1. List down 5 examples of common software for communication purposes in each category

1.System Software-
1.Windows
 The Windows Operating System is perhaps one of the most well-known system software. Many
laptops and desktops use the Windows OS.
2.Microsoft Word,
 One of the great example when it comes for the students it allows you to write, read, and edit
documents. And helps you to make you’re documentation more presentable and also you can have
your own design of notes especially now for online classes
3.Google Chrome,
 Another application software I referred to a few times is Google Chrome. Whether you are installing
it on a Windows operating system or an Android operating system, it is an application that allows
you to browse the web and read articles on the web.
4.Firefox,
 Like Google chrome fire fox is one of the most popular web browser.
5. skype
 Skype is application software that can be installed on devices like Windows, Android, and iOS
machines. Using Skype, you can communicate with other people over the internet using voice calls,
video chats, and text messaging

5.Solaris
Solaris is a UNIX based operating system which was originally developed by Sun Microsystems in the
mid-’90s. In 2010 it was renamed as Oracle Solaris after Oracle acquired Sun Microsystems. It is known for
its scalability and several other features that made it possible such as Dtrace, ZFS and Time Slider

4.Disk Operating System (DOS)


1.BM DOS
Commodore DOS, also known as CBM DOS, is the disk operating system used with Commodore's 8-bit
computers. Unlike most other DOSes, which are loaded from disk into the computer's own RAM and
executed there, CBM DOS is executed internally in the drive: the DOS resides in ROM chips inside the
drive, and is run there by one or more dedicated MOS 6502 family CPUs. Thus, data transfer between
Commodore 8-bit computers and their disk drives more closely resembles a local area network connection
than typical disk/host transfers.

2.ROM-DOS™ provides a well-known, well-documented interface for application programs to send and
receive information for other devices throughout the computer. ROM-DOS communicates to the application
and device drivers through the use of software interrupts.

3. IBM-DOS, an acronym for IBM personal computer disk operating system, also known as IBM Personal
Computer DOS, is a discontinued operating system for the IBM Personal Computer, manufactured and sold
by IBM from the early 1980s into the 2000s.

4. MS-DOS allows the user to navigate, open, and otherwise manipulate files on their computer from a
command line instead of a GUI like Windows. Today, MS-DOS is no longer used; however, the command
shell, more commonly known as the Windows command line is still used by many users.
MS-DOS is an operating system for based personal computers mostly developed by Microsoft. Collectively,
MS-DOS, its rebranding as IBM PC DOS, and some operating systems attempting to be compatible with
MS-DOS, are sometimes referred to as "DOS".

5. DR-DOS is an operating system of the DOS family, written for IBM PC-compatible personal computers.
It was originally developed by Gary A. Kildall's Digital Research and derived from Concurrent PC DOS 6.0,
which was an advanced successor of CP/M-86. As ownership changed, various later versions were produced
with names including Novell DOS and Caldera Open DOS.

5.Graphical User Interface (GUI)

Android is a great help for the communication as of today because in android we can access anything. It is
designed primarily for touch screen mobiles devices such as smartphones and tablets.
2.Apple iOS
Just like the android it is also a convenient thing to use when in terms of communication. The difference the
iOS is a close system whereas Android is more open. Users have barely any system permissions in iOS but
in Android, users can customize their phones easily. Android software is available for many manufacturers
such as Samsung, LG etc.
3.Windows 10 for Mobile
Windows 10 Mobile is a discontinued mobile operating system developed by Microsoft. It is like the iOS
and Android but is run in the windows phone like Lumia Icon.
4.Microsoft Windows
Microsoft Windows, commonly referred to as Windows, is a group of several proprietary graphical operating
system families, all of which are developed and marketed by Microsoft. It what often see in our computers

GNOME Shell is the graphical shell of the GNOME desktop environment starting with version 3, which was
released on April 6, 2011. It provides basic functions like launching applications, switching between
windows and is also a widget engine.

6.Utility Programs
1.File Manager
This utility software help to browse, search, arrange, find information, and quickly preview the files of the
system. It is also good when you have to find your document that you will submit later on.
2.Backup and Restore
This software will help you to back up the files, folders. It is to duplicate the disk information so it can be
restored if any data loss happens. It is good to use if you have any important folder or any data you stored
because if there’s a corruption you have the backup as a resort.
3.WordPress
WordPress is a Free website or blog that you can host and run. It contains template system so you can
customize in fit for your business, portfolio, blog or even your store.
4.Google Chrome
It is a cross platform web browser developed by the google. In the google it is where you can find anything.
