Activity 7: Frequency Modulator Circuit

Required: LTSPICE File

Circuit and Simulation Results
Proof of Activity Performance

Objective:
To generate an FM signal given an FM Transmitter Circuit in LTSPICE

Introduction:

Frequency Modulation is a form of angular modulation where the frequency of the

carrier is varied according to the instantaneous amplitude of the analog modulating signal.
Figure shows the message signal, high frequency carrier signal and the frequency
modulated signal. In FM, the information is in the changes in the frequency of the carrier,
so it is less susceptible to noise than Amplitude Modulation.

Procedure:

1. Create the FM Transmitter circuit shown in LTSPICE and Simulate to show the
modulated output across R3. Take a video of yourself while performing the activity. Use
of screen capture and time-lapse option recommended.

Note: If the given circuit produces significant distortion at the output, you may opt to
use another FM transmitter or FM Modulator Circuit.

2. Take a screenshot of the completed circuit and simulated outputs in LTSPICE. This
will serve as your Data Sheet.

3. Take a picture for validation of results and proof of performance.

4. Save the Simulink file and Video File for compilation and validation of results.

5. Submit data sheet, proof of performance and Google Drive Links in BB
