NUTRITION CONCEPT

1. Define good nutrition and what proof showed by a person having a good nutrition?

Good nutrition is one of the key to have a good physical and mental health. When we eat a
variety of foods that can help us to obtain various nutrients that our body needs. As a nursing
student I will promote to eat vegetables, fruits and healthy diet in order to prevent the onset of
disease. When it comes to assessing the overall health of an individual, paying attention to the
number on the scale might seem like the most convenient and accurate way to gauge healthiness.
However, in reality weight has little to do with how healthy you truly are due to many factors
such as body type, height, and even bone density/muscle mass.First a person should eat a
nutritious diet in moderation according to your body type.Second the person who has a good
nutrition is have a regular bowel movements because your digestive system is and the rest og
your body is healthy working.Third, a person who has good nutrition is do not get sick
constantly.Lastly, you feel that your mental health is healthy and resilient because as healthy
person is not just about the physical body but also in out mental that healthy people know how
to address their stress and acknowledge the pros and cons of their emotions.

2. Why did Antoine Lavoisier, considered the father of nutrition and chemistry?

Antoine Lavoisier, the father of nutrition and chemistry, discovered metabolism in 1770, which is
the conversion of food and oxygen into heat and water in the body to produce energy. Carbon,
nitrogen, hydrogen, and oxygen, the primary components of food, were identified in the early
1800s.

3. Explain carbohydrate digestion, fat digestion, and protein digestion. From mouth to the
small intestine.

Carbohydrate digestion starts in mouth by the enzyme amylase present in the saliva. Food enters
into the stomach where the complex protein is digested into the simple protein of dipeptides by
pepsin. In small intestine food is further digested in the presence of pancreatic juice and bile.
Dipeptides are converted into the amino acids by trypsin and lipids are emulsified and digested
by lipase and bile.
