Working individually, use this chart to identify and analyze three similes and one metaphor that
appear in Nazim Hikmet’s poem.

The poem of Maya Angelou can be read as an extended metaphor because is a detailed
comparison through the stanzas. Is comparing the white people with the free birds and the
caged birds with the black people.
