appear in Nazim Hikmet’s poem.
Explain how Maya Angelou’s “Caged Bird” can be read as an extended metaphor. What implied
comparison is the poet making between the free bird, the caged, and people or ideas in the real

The poem of Maya Angelou can be read as an extended metaphor because is a detailed
comparison through the stanzas. Is comparing the white people with the free birds and the
caged birds with the black people.
