All about Playbased learning
 Play based learning promotes the complete development like
physical, social, emotional, cognitive and creative of a child.

 Play-based learning also provides opportunities for children to


actively engage with people, objects and the environment.

 The representation is a critical aspect.

 When playing, children may be organising, constructing,


manipulating, pretending, exploring, investigating, creating,
interacting, imagining, negotiating and making sense of their
worlds.

 It may also support the numericals skills for the children.

 If utilised effectively, possible characteristics may include active,


agentic and creative.

Playbased learning
What can be done?
Teachers may do things such as,

 We teachers may construct opportunities for play within the learning


environment.

 We teachers may make connections between play and


Curriculum.

 We Teachers may make model, support, initiate and generate play


to include the use of, for example, puppet, media, block, sand and
water.

 We teachers may actively engage in and guide the play before,


during and after.

Children may do things such as,

 Engage in a learning about environment that progressively


withdraws structure as mastery is increased.

 They may try modelled language and behaviours within meaningful


classroom contexts.

 They may move towards applying skills, strategies, concepts and


rules independently.

 They may transfer new knowledge to broader teaching and learning


contexts.

 They may identify when, and from whom, help can be sought.
Apporach 2
All about Eventbased learning
 Children's ideas and decision-making are central to an event-
based approach.

 Children”s are encouraged to plan and enact events in real-life


contexts drawing on their experiences.

 An event-based approach may include investigations, problem-


solving, and play.

 This apporach provides a context for learning that is sustained for


the short or long-term and provides knowledge for the children.

 This approach has been identified as having positive impacts on


literacy and numeracy learning.

 If utilised effectively, possible characteristics may include agentic,


collaborative, language rich, narrative and playful.

Event based approach


What can be done?
Teachers may do things such as,

 We teachers may bring children's interests and experiences,


orienting them towards the staging of an event.

 We teachers may guide planning, preparation, and enacting events.


 We teachers may promote child agency, including children's ideas
and thoughts and their decision.

 We may teach and model the desired skills of collaboration and


cooperation.

Children may do things such as,

 They may plan, prepare, rehearse and enact events in real-life.

 Children”s may identify, explore and compare culturally activities


and objects.

 Children’s may express their opinions and listen to the opinions of


others throughout this approach.

 Children may identify the thinking used to solve problems in given


situations.

 Children’s may share their thinking about possible courses of action.
