Archbishop saddened over the death of 26 pilgrims

Archbishop A.A.S.Durairaj expressed shock over the

death of 26 pilgrims of Panna district, who went on pilgrimage to Chardham, died


after the bus carrying pilgrims fell into a gorge in Uttarakhand on Sunday. The
accident took place near Damta on Yamunotri National Highway. The condition of
three pilgrims is said to be critical.

In his message the Archbishop expressed grief over the tragedy and said "My
condolence goes to bereaved families and Friends and offer special special
prayers for the departed souls. May the souls rest in peace"

RT Rev Joseph Kodakalil, bishop of Satna said in his Condolence Message that " It
is with deep sorrow I heard the shocking news of the fatal accident in
Uttarakhand on Sunday night in which 26 pilgrims died. I express and convey my
deep condolences to the bereaved families. All the pilgrims were from the district
of Panna which is part of our diocese" he added.

30 pilgrims of Panna district, who went on pilgrimage to Chardham, died after the
bus carrying pilgrims fell into a gorge in Uttarakhand on Sunday. The accident
took place near Damta on Yamunotri National Highway. The condition of three
pilgrims is said to be critical.

The bus left Haridwar at 10 am on Sunday. The accident took place on Yamunotri
National Highway between Damta and Bernigad.
