Science | Partial Evaluation: Project on er
Professor: Cristian Obando Brenes.
Application Date: March 14" - March 18"
General Objective:
Apply the knowledge acquired about forces by making activities about it and answering
some questions.
specific Objectives:
Identify the different forces.
Describe variations in the fields.
Create a functional compass.
Describe how are forces applied in different scenarios.
Procedure
The project will be devided in three parts. Part | and 2 have 2 activities, part 3 has 1
demonstration.
Part 1
Composs
Students will make a funtional compas to show how magnetism helps to point the
cardinal points
Bowling
Students will try to knock out some pins and write some observations about it.
Port 2
Paper airplane contest.
An aerodynamic design to reduce air resistance will be made and tested. Later on
students should write some observations about it.
Car race.
Students will be testing friction on diferent toy cars and determining the factors to make
them run faster and getting longer.

Part 3
Ball runi
acontainer to test different effects and so, answer some q}
ing around a container. Students will Iry 10 push a ball around the internal part of
estions about it.
Materials
1. Metal clip.
2. One cork.
3, Ansmall toy car.
4, Aplastic plate.
Students are not allowed to copy and paste information from intemet. Instead, students
should use their own words to answer the questions. Answers from a copy and paste
from internet or book won't be graded.
students can use their notebooks and text books as guide.
Students should answer the following questions and requests of information after each
activity.
Day 1 (Compas and Bowling).
Compass
1. [sit contact or noncontact force?
2. How did my compass work? (Did it work Why/why not?)
3. Why does the magnetic clip points north
4.
. What is the use of a compass?
Bowling
1, What 2 forces were used to hit the pins?
2. Which was the chosen ball? Why?
3. Was it the best option to knock down the pins. Why/Why not?
4
What is the key to knock down the pins, bigger balls, heavier balls, air resistance,
force applied? Explain.

Paper aipane competition
1. What 2 contact forces were applied in the airplane competition?
What contact force was applied in the airplane competition?
eo
Did my prototype work? Why? Why noy?
4, What can | do to reduce the air resistance with my model?
Toy car competition
1. Was friction applied in the car race? How?
2. Was gravity applied in the car race? How?
3. Was air resistance applied in the race? How?
a
. Was upirust applied? How?
Day 3
Based on the demonstration about centripetal force:
1. Was it a balaced or nonbalanced forces?
2. Is gravity useful to tum the container upside down? Explain
3. How was friction useful? Explain
4, Was air resistance applied? How?
General Questions about forces
1, What are 2 similarities and 2 diferences between the magnefic force and the
gravitational force.
2. What would be the resultant force in the airplane competition if you threw the
airplane with a force of SN on favor of the wind direction. The wind direction applies
a force of 7N.
3. Heavier things fall faster? Explain.
4. Write an example of an object presenting an unbalanced and noncontact force at
the same time.

The project will be guided by the professor in class.
Students will have a handout as a guide during the Science classes to follow the
requested information.
Once the students finish the handout with all the information:
If the student works digitally
They should send it by T-Box as a turn-in homework using the link called: “Science Project
7" | Trim." Deadline: Friday, March 18".
If the student works physically, the pages should be delivered to the professor during the
lesson #6.
