Perform these steps to update your existing Secure Configuration Assistant for Windows® (SCA-W)
to the latest version.
This procedure updates the software on the USB drive that came
with your purchase of the SCA-W. If you have more than one SCA-W,
perform this procedure on each SCA-W USB drive
1. Insert the USB drive that contains the SCA-W application into a PC.
IMPORTANT: If you already have the SCA-W USB drive inserted into the PC before you begin this
procedure, then you must remove the USB drive and re-insert it.
3. In the top navigation bar, select Supportˇ and from the dropdown list click Downloads. The Firmware
and Software Repositories download page displays.
4. Scroll through the page to SCA. Click Show Downloads. The SCA download page displays.
5. Either click the button or the filename of the latest SCA-W update package.zip file.
6. Open the zip file and extract the files. The package contains the following three folders:
ASRM, SCA-W updater, and Serial USB host drives.
7. Open the SCA-W updater folder, it contains the following files: SCAUpdater.exe and SPWLib.dll
8. Right-click on the SCAUpdater.exe file and from the dropdown list select Run as administrator.
9. During the update, the Utimaco logo displays and the PC emits sounds associated with the mounting
and unmounting of the SCA-W drive. When the update completes, the Update Complete message
displays.
The SCA-W is now mounted and visible in your File Explorer window.
10. Click the SCA-W.exe file to launch the application. When the application is loaded, you have access to
the SCA-W User Guide.
11. Click About to view the software version of the application. This version number reflects the version
number indicated in the updater package.
This version supports a change in smart card vendor due to the global semiconductor shortage and supply
