Levels). Achievement of "Exceeded Expectations" or "Outstanding" on your O.W.L. Reading Challenge will earn you some
delicious ice cream (see information below). Remember that reading during your summer break will help you move forward to
even higher levels of scholastic distinction.

y Ancient Runes: Read a book with a symbol on the cover

y Arithmancy: Read a book with a number on the cover, or in the title
y Astronomy: Read a science-fiction novel
y Care of Magical Creatures: Read a book that includes magical creatures or has magical creatures on the cover
y Charms: Read a fantasy book
y Defense Against the Dark Arts: Read a book about or featuring a secret society or club
y Divination: Read a book featuring prophecies (magical/spiritual predictions)
y Herbology: Read a book with a nature-related word in the title
y History of Magic: Read a historical fiction book
y Muggle Studies: Read a muggle non-fiction book
y Potions: Read a book about or with alchemy, or read a book that contains/features a legend
y Transfiguration: Read a book that deals with transfiguration or shapeshifting (or a similar theme), or read a book with a cat on
the cover

Achievement Levels
Based on Number of O.W.L.s Achieved (Books Read)

5 or more O.W.L.s Achieved = Outstanding . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .You earn a bowl of ice cream with all the toppings!
3-4 O.W.L.s Achieved = Exceeded Expectations . . . . . . . . . . . . You earn a bowl of ice cream with no toppings.
2 O.W.L.s Achieved = Acceptable . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . You earn an empty bowl.
1 O.W.L. Achieved = Poor . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . You earn a plastic spoon, no bowl.
Started 1 O.W.L. (not finished) = Dreadful . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . You earn a hungry feeling in your tummy.
None at all = Troll . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . You earn disappointment, and possibly a wart on your nose.

***Important Note: Completion of 8 or more O.W.L.s guarantees more rewards. Completion of all 12 O.W.L.s guarantees even
more rewards than previously earned.
