1. Responsibility Morning time. A forest of building with glasses everywhere.

A building among these buildings was of IT Company, and the employees of the company were arriving one by one. As it was around 10' O clock the rush of employees increased suddenly. Everybody was rushing to reach in before 10, as they did not wanted to be late. Every employee's arrival time was recorded on the smart card reader mounted on the door. Not only arrival time but also the overall in-out movement of the employees was recorded in the smart card reader. The main glass door of the company was equipped with magnetic lock, and the door was programmed to open only when the employees show their identity cards to the smart card reader. Due to those identity cards and smart card readers the security of the company and the regularity of the employees were maintained. As 10's buzzer rang almost everybody was in the company, including company Director and CEO Anjali also. Aljali was around 23 and she was B.E. computer. Due to her father's sudden death, earlier company Director and CEO, the responsibility of company came to her. It was a big responsibility compared to her age; otherwise it was an age of roaming and enjoying the young days. Her wish was to go to US for the further education. But due to her father's untimely demise her wish remained a mere wish. She used to try to handle the responsibility of heading the company at the same time she also used to try to keep her liveliness alive. Anjali walked along the aisle to her cabin, between the cubicles on both sides. As such she preferred to wear casuals during office hours - loose white T-shirt and loose cotton creamy trouser. Whenever there was some important program or meeting with an important client then only she used to prefer to wear formal dress. For other office staff and developers also it was not compulsory to wear formal dress. They were free to wear the dresses in which they feel comfortable. Anjali always used to say 'The work you do in office... you should be able to enjoy it. If you are able to enjoy the work then you would not feel the exhaustion from it' She had increased the productivity of the employees by mixing enjoyment and hobbies with the work. She had provided the facilities of gym, swimming pool, Zen chamber, meditation room, TT room, etc to the employees. Because of these facilities the employees used to spend their maximum time in the office and used to deal with stress in between the hectic tasks. He was getting the good results of this. While entering her office she came across some of her employees. They wished her, bowing their heads slightly. She also wished back, with sweet smile. It was evident from their body language that the wish was not out of fear, but it was out of the respect they felt about her. It was the peculiarity of her cabin that it had the same furniture, which the other employees had. 'I am also one among you' probably she wanted to convey the message out of it. When she reached her cabin, she pushed the glass cabin door, equipped with spring, and entered her cabin. 2. Chatting

As Anjali arrived in the office, she first finished the important office works, like important posts, important official mails, progress reports etc. The mails, which were important, she replied to them, some mails she got them printed for further actions. After finishing the important works she opened the chatting session. Whenever she used to feel exhausted or when she used to be free, she used to chat, it was her daily routine. It was not an easy task to lead such a huge company. Chatting was her good finding to cope up with the work related tensions and stress. When she was busy with chatting, her phone rang; she attended it, still continuing with chatting. She was accustomed to handle all the jobs in parallel fashion, as if, like computers, she was equipped with parallel processing. " Yes Mona" she responded to her receptionist on the phone. " Madam... Net Securas Managing Director... Mr. Bhatia is on the line" response came from the other side. " Connect please" She instructed. By that time a message appeared on the chatting session window, Hi Anjali checked the senders identity; it was Tom Boy What a boring and irritating person he is. she thought. This Tom Boy used to present almost always on the chatting, as if, only to annoy her. When he is present on the chatting, and Angali opened the chatting session, it never happened that he did not annoy her with his the very first message. He didnt has other work or what... bastard ... always present on the chat room. Anjali decided to ignore him today. There were few offline messages in her chatting inbox. Anjali held the phone cradle in between her ear and shoulder, and started checking the offline messages, operating her fingers swiftly on the keyboard. " Good morning Mr. Bhatia... How are you? As the phone was connected, she simultaneously conversed on the phone. She paused in between to hear the conversation from the other side. "Look, Bhatiajee... We are the best at our quality and delivery schedules... you dont worry... we will deliver your product on time.. Did it happen ever, that our delivery schedule is missed? .. Never... isnt it... then dont worry... you rest assured... yes... ok. Bye .." Anjali disconnected, and again spoke to her receptionist, pressing two digits, " Send Sharwari in please" During the phone conversation, her attention was distracted from the computer, because her punch line was - if its work, the importance goes to work first, and

rest of the things latter. Suddenly the computer beeped; there was some message in the chat window. Anjali looked at the computer, in annoyance. God... Again the same Tom Boy She checked the identy of message sender, but it was not Tom Boy. She sighed in relief and started reading it. " Would you like to be my friend" the message read. English literature - Novel : Elove : CH-3 Mailing Address 'Would you like to be my friend?' the message was still visible on the monitor. Anjali was thinking of an appropriate reply, so that the guy on other side should not trouble her like 'Tom Boy' 'Why not? ... definitely ... But beware ... being friend is easy... but being friend in any circumstances is not that easy ' Anjali typed the message and was about to send when her secretary Sharwari came in. " Yes Madam" '' Sharwari, How many times I need to tell you, ... don't call me Madam... Call me simply Anjali... When you call me Madam... suddenly I feel as if I am grown up to 50 years from 23..." Anjali said in irritation. She scolded her ruthlessly, but then she felt bad. Now she started talking in serious tone, " As you know, after papa passed away this responsibility came to me... otherwise these should be my enjoying easygoing playful days... You know what... I asked you to join here purposefully... so that in this stressful environment I should not loose my playfulness... At least you should call me Anjali... You are my friend first and then secretary ... understand" Anjali said. " Yes Madam... I mean Anjali" Sharwari said. Anjali smiled looking at her. As Sharwari sat before her, the computer alert rang again. There was message again in chatting window What's your Name? Anjali... What's yours? Anjali typed the message. Anjali clicked on the send button and revolved the chair in the direction of

Sharwari, " So ... What's going on in Net Secura's project?'' Anjali asked. " Everything is alright... but one of the module is crashing the system... Still they are working on it but are unable to get the bug..." Sharwari updated her with the information. By that time a message again appeared on the monitor, ' My name is Vivek... By the way... What are your likings ... I mean hobbies?' Anjali looked at the monitor, and ignoring the message she looked at sharwari, a concern about the project was clearly visible on her face. " Who is working on that module?'' Anjali asked. " Dinesh Maheswari? Sharwari supplied the information. " The one who joined the last month?'' Anjali asked. " Yes ... the same guy" "Associate some senior engineer with him and see that the mater is resolved" Anjali instantly analyzed the root cause of the problem and suggested the solution too. " Yes Madam... I mean Anjali " Sharwari said, proudly looking at her boss. She always felt proud of her this management skill of taking instant and correct decisions. Anjali again took charge of the computer. Sharwari got up and left the cabin and Anjali was typing the response to the message, just arrived on the chat. ' Hobbies... yes... reading, swimming... writing some times and of course chatting' Anjali typed the message and sent it, and opened Microsoft excel sheet in another window. She was absorbed in reading the numbers in the excel sheet. Probably she was checking the financial details of some of the projects her company was handling. Suddenly again a chatting message appeared. Wow ... What a coincidence... our likings are exactly matching... Really? She asked, sarcastically. Anjali was quite aware of this old trick of impressing ladies. Anjali looked up, sensing somebody's entrance in the cabin. It was peon. He kept some documents in front of her for signing. Anjali quickly read through the documents and signed them. 'I swear...' the chat message came from other side. Vivek would have sensed skepticism in her worlds. 'Could you send me your mail-id please?' again Vivek's message came.

' anjali5000@gmail.com' Without any hesitation she sent her mail-id as her chatting mail-id was different than her regular mail-id. Anjali revolved her chair towards her writing table, caught hold of her diary, and looking at her wrist watch she got up to leave the cabin. As she turned to leave the cabin, the computer buzzer again rang. She looked back at the monitor. 'O.K. then Bye... see you some time...' Vivek's message was visible on the monitor. 4. When we becomes wordless In the internet cafe Vivek was busy writing something. Another person Johnny, almost of his age, probably his friend arrived in the cafe and tapped on his head playfully from behind, Hi Vivek... Whats up? Coming out of his trance, Vivek looked behind and said, continuing his work on the computer, Nothing yarr,... trying to send a mail? Whom? A girl Wow... girl... the matter seems to be of love Johnny said, teasing him. No yarr.. just a friend Vivek said. My friend... you agree on dont agree... When we want to talk a girl and we dont get words... Or When we want to write to a girl and we are clueless... then be sure you are in love... Johnny said, again trying to tease him more. Vivek just smiled. Look... look... how you are blushing Johnny said. Vivek again smiled, without saying a word. When somebody neither denies... Nor agrees... then be sure that he is love... Johnny was not ready to leave him. But now, Vivek got annoyed, Would you leave this place or wants to be beaten up? Whatever you are thinking ... its nothing like that... I am doing web search for my PHD topic and in between just mailing to relax... Vivek said, trying to control

his irritation. Thats all? Johnny said. You are leaving right now ... or be ready to be humiliated in front of this crowd here? Vivek said again in irritation. OK ... OK... just calm down... anyway... whats the topic of your PHD research? Johny asked. Its secret.. I cant disclose to anyone Vivek said. Not to me too? No not to you too Vivek said firmly. Its good ... under the name of secrecy it is convenient to continue as many love affairs as you like Johnny said. Whatever you assume? No .. its beyond the point of assumption... Johnny said. What do you mean? It means.. I need not assume anything. Why? .. because everything is clear and confirmed You mean... Vivek got up to chase him, but Johnny had reached the door by that time. He was smiling naughtily looking back at Vivek. 5. Metting It would have been 10 in the morning, when Anjali entered her cabin in hurry, to find Sharwari was busy in looking after the neatness of the cabin. In her absence the sole responsibility of the cabin was left to her. As Anjali entered the cabin, Sharwari wished her, " Good Morning.." ' Madam ' was the next word about to come though her mouth, but some how she managed to gulp it. Though Anjali was like a friend to her, at last she was her boss. Most of the time it was awkward for her to behave with her like a friend, in front of the other office bearers at least.

As Anjali passed by her, she tapped enthusiastically on her back, " Hi.. " Her driver followed her, carrying her suitcase. As Anjali took her seat, driver kept her suitcase on her right and left the cabin. When Anjali seemed to be comfortable in her seat, Sharwari pushed the appointment diary in front of her, opening the todays page. Anjali switched on her computer and started to read through the appointments today. " Meeting .. so early in the morning.. I didn't even settled." Anjali said making a bad face, " But be sure I could not attend the afternoon seminar... Why don't your send Sharmaji" " Ok.. fine" Sharwari said, star marking the appointment. " What else we can do... we can't say plainly no to these people ... and in the absence of time I even can't attend them... really it's not easy to head an institution" Anjali said. Anjali opened her suitcase and started removing the papers one by one, having a look at them while removing. Keeping one of the paper aside she said, " Look... tender work of this company is still incomplete... please send this paper to Mr. Kulkarni..." " Mr. Kulkarni is on leave today" Sharwari " But as per my information he was on leave till yesterday..." Anjali said, with irritation. " That's right... But .. just half an hour before he ringed up ... telling that he could not come today too" Sharwari said. "Why? Why can't he come?" Anjali was angry now. " I asked, when he phoned, but he disconnected without telling anything" " Kulkarni... this Kulkarni is such a irrisponsible man..." Anjali said cursing him, trying to control her anger. And then Anjali's loose her temper and started cursing everything. She was continuously speaking. Sharwari was quite sure and knew what to do, when Anjali keep on cursing and talking like this. Nothing, just keep on listing and ignoring her curses, without reacting. Anjali herself told her once that when our boss looses his temper, like this, he just keeps on cursing and talking to relieve his stress. It is one of the stress relieving techniques. While our boss is out of temper and the secretary who reacts or asks him questions in between, in fact increases his stress more, and that secretary is considered to be the most unsuccessful secretary.

By now Anjali seemed to be calmed down. She picked up her files and papers and stood up to leave for the meeting. Sharwari also stood up. Before leaving she looked at her glowing monitor and said, " Will you please check my mails please... I am leaving for the meeting" and Anjali stared to leave the cabin. " Personal mails too?'' Sharwari asked her, teasing her playfully. " You know ... there is nothing personal... And whatever is there.. you know everything... " Anjali replied back, looking at her with the same naughty stance, and left for the meeting. 6. what about the mail? Early in the morning, Vivek was walking fast on the road carrying a bag; he seemed to be in hurry. His friend Johnny followed him almost running and chasing him, Hey listen... Where are you going? Vivek looked behind, and ignoring his friend continued further. Hey are you eloping away with some girlfriend or what? Johnny doubted looking at his doubtful hurried movements, and as he was not stopping. Johnny was still running behind him, trying to reach him. What a nuisance ... I even cant go out for few days.. Vivek was muttering under his breath, without stopping. Just going out for two days Vivek said aloud, still walking ahead. Wait a minute... there is an urgency... Johnny said. Vivek stopped and Johnny ran to reach him. Come on... be quick... whats so urgent? Vivek asked him with annoyance, as Johnny reached him. So... What happened yesterday? Johnny asked. About what? The same thing... about the mail... Did you send the mail? Johnny asked him putting his hand around Viveks shoulder. What an idiot fellow your are!... You even dont have a sense of what you are talking ... and what time you are talking .. Here I am getting late for my bus and

you are talking about the useless mail... Vivek said, in irritation, pushing back his hand from his shoulder. Vivek now continued to walk further, picking up more speed. What you are talking?... you know... MAIL is always important than BUS ... Now you tell me Hawra Mail, Rajdhani Mail... these are big or your kiddy Bus... Johnny was still following him. Now Vivek knew that there was no use of arguing with him. Without speaking a word he simply kept on walking further. He was speeding up trying to get rid of him and Johnny was still chattering and walking with him. 7. Blank Replay Sharwari was working on computer in Anjali's cabin. Ajali came back in the cabin, finishing her early morning meeting. She looked into the watch, it was around 12 in the afternoon. Pulling back her revolving chair, she almost thrown herself in it, and adjusted the rear of the chair to relax. Sharwari glanced at her, sensing her presence and again resumed her work. " Any special mail?" Anjali asked without looking at Sharwari. " No.. nothing special... there was one... as usual Tom boy's mail" Sharwari said sarcastically. " Tom Boy... I have never seen such a bore person in my whole life...Did you? " Anjali asked. " Sometimes but not constant to this extent...." Sharvari replied. It seemed, Anjali and Sharwari must had a prolonged talk over 'Tom Boy'. " And yes... there is one more... from some one called 'Vivek'" Anjali added. " Vivek... yes must be the same chap... met on the chatting... I tell you... what he would have written... I bet ... the first question would be What is your age... next ... what is your address... next... my age is so and so... my adress is so and so... And slowly he would come to the point... All males are like this only... " " He had written nothing ... as you are assuming ... " Sharwari interrupted her. " No?... then he must have recommended some product from some company... so that we would buy the product and he would earn the commission..." Anjali said. " No... nothing like that also" Sharwari said. " Then?... Then what has he written?" Anjali asked curiously, turning towards Sharwari, to look at the monitor. " He has written nothing... He has sent a blank mail... and at the bottom he has mentioned his name as 'Vivek' " Sharwari said. Suddenly Anjali sat right. " Let me see" Now she approached Sharwari, pushing her revolving chair towards her. Sharwari opened the desired mail from Anjali's mailbox. Really it was blank! " Anjali ... you believe it or not... the boy has style..... at least he is different from the other boys... " Sharwari said, trying to get Anjali's opinion. " Will you shut up please? .... And what is that Boy.. different boy... boy with style... Did you know who is he?... Where does he belong? ... What is his age?... May be some crazy old man punk ... You know now a days people personalize

themselves on internet ..." " Ya.. .that's true... but don't worry... I will do his cyber investigation.. right now... " Sharwari said, keying some keyboard keys and mouse clicks swiftly. Within seconds a report appeared on the monitor. " Here you see .. his name is mentioned as only 'Vivek' ... surname is not mentioned... Staying at Mumbai and persuing PHD... and the age is..." Sharwari took a purposeful pause. Anjali was also seemed to be curious and was waiting for Sharwari to disclose the details about the age. " PHD?... then must be over 45... Didn't I tell you before?" " And his age is 25 years" Sharwari said, as if disclosing some long waited climax. " So... What to do now?" Sharwari said trying to tease her. " The one who wanted to give the message... They had given it... The heart seems to be beating badly on the other side. Now it's your turn to express... " "Wow what a shayari... " Sharwari said, praising herself. Anjali simply kept quite. " So what to do next... come on tell me quickly" Sharwari was not ready to leave her. " Nothing much.. just delete the mail" Anjali said carelessly, at least pretending so. " No... No... don't be so cruel.... ok will do one thing... will reply a blank message to the blank mail" Before Anjali could say anything Sharwari operated the keyboard and mouse with her swift finger movements and replied the blank mail with a blank reply. 8. Disappointed Today , as Anjali arrived in the office she took her seat and started the computer. After the computer is booted she started chatting program and checked whether there are some offline messages. There were none. Emotions of disappointment could be seen on her face. She started going through the reports kept on her table, in order to divert her mind. It was Sharwari who was smiling while observing her movements minutely, who was sitting right across her. While going through the reports Anjali realized the thing; she glanced to caught her smiling" Why are you smiling so sweetly dear?'' Anjali asked. Sharwari quickly and swiftly changed her expressions and wore a serious face. " No.. no ... I am not smiling" Suddenly a computer buzzer rang and Anjali looked at the monitor in anticipation. Realizing there is nothing which she was expecting again she pretended to read the reports. " It's since two days... whenever the chatting buzzer rings you look at it leaving everything .. Are you expecting somebody's message or mail?" Sharwari asked.

" No ... no ... nothing important" Anjali said still going through the reports, probably to avoid the direct eye contact. Again the buzzer rang. Again she looked at the monitor with anticipation, and this time she turned to the computer, moving her revolving chair. " This must be Vivek's message" Sharvari said, again trying to tease her. Which Vivek?" Anjali asked, pretending her ignorance. " Which Vivek?... the one which met you the other day on the chatting " Sharvari also was not in mood to leave her. " How can you be so sure" Anjali asked, while keying on the keyboard. " Madam ... its visible from your blushed red face" Sharvari said, smiling at her. First the expressions of 'catching the theft' came on Anjali's face and then she managed to replace them with angry expressions. " Will you leave me alone for a while... It's since long I am seeing that you are trying hard to annoy me... Go out and you will find that there are so many jobs pending for you... " Anjali said. Sharwari smiled, stood up, understanding Anjali's intention and left the cabin. As Sharwari left, Anjali opened Vivek's chat message, which was just arrived.
