Argue Unit Reflection

I struggled a lot more with the writing of this essay than I did the first, likely because of

my initial struggle figuring out how to approach the topic and what sources to use. My final draft

is entirely rewritten and uses completely different sources than the first because of this initial

struggle. I realized that this struggle had come about entirely because the sources I had chosen

didn’t align with what I wanted to write about in the essay at all. Once I had found the perfect

sources for my final draft, however, the essay was significantly easier to approach. While I had

gotten this out of the way and was swept with relief I realized- I’m going to have to do in-text

citations again. The color began draining from my cheeks as I began to pani- just kidding!

Totally kept it together trying to make those citations look nice. I also had a lot of empty

assertions in the first part of this essay such as “Medicating children has been a frequent topic of

discussion within the psychology community.” Which, I am ashamed to say, was my literal first

sentence. I made sure that every assertion I made had a source to back it up and then tried to

make those in-text citations look better. I’ll admit, looking back, I feel like I could have used a

wider variety of styles, but I was very focused on trying to make it follow the prompt which I

had struggled to do in my first attempt. Writing this essay definitely helped me with applying my

sources in a different way than with the first. This one was less focused on the APA part, but

more on the content that I was using to make my points make sense. I feel like I could write this

essay again using different sources and outline different points of view as well.
