5. What are some factors that influence speaker's choice of communicative style or register?
Answer:
1. Misunderstanding in cross cultural can occur as a result of the following cultural differences and
needs:
Language spoken
Forms of address
Levels of formality or informality
Non-verbal behaviour
Work ethic
Personal grooming and dress
Hygiene habits
Family, social obligations and status
Observance of special religious, feast or other celebratory days
Customs, beliefs, and values
Product preferences
2. Because we will better understand that every culture has its own uniqueness and characteristics;
different languages-means different cultures. Get rid of prejudice, stereotyping, and
ethnocentrism. Increase cultural sensitivity, be open to differences and communication skills,
and interact appropriately and appropriately.
3. Physical appearance, marriage and children, religion, tragedy, sex, politics, and money are some
of the unsuitable topics to ask foreign westerns. While political, religious, cultural and others are
some topics that are not appropriate to ask Asian foreigners.
