Introduction:
December holidays are near, and a group of friends want to enjoy the next
vacation.
They want to have fun, relax and they have decided to celebrate the end of English
classes; and enjoy one of the most beautiful places in El Salvador.
Marisela and Delmy meet in the university cafeteria.
Scene 1.
Marisela and Delmy are talking about sightseeing in the university cafeteria.
Scene 2.
Delmy call a Carmen for ask her if she wants to go La Ruta de las Flores.
(the cell phone rings)
Scene 3.
Two days later, Marisela goes to Monseñor Romero airport, to go bring her
friends.
Scene 5.
The group of friends arrive in Apaneca, and begin to share the traditions of that
place with their foreign friends.
Marisela: If you are crazy about the news culture, nature and traditions, you must
go to Apaneca.
Delmy: It has been a good idea to come here. In Apaneca we can visit many
places. Now, we can visit de gastronomic square.
Carmen: If you like extreme sports or things, make sure to explore Apaneca. We
can ride motorcycles, to ride a horse; or get on the canopi; and we can buy
souvenirs.
Minju (Marielos): That's a good idea. I love to do different things. But, I am hungry.
What do you recommend? I have never tried salvadorian food.
Marisela: Sure. Apaneca has typical food. For example, this is Cassava with
pepescas. Minju and Amanda, Have you ever tried this type of food?
Minju: No, I Haven't. But I tried pupusas two or three years ago, It really delicious.
Amanda: Me neither.
In Jamaica, we have typical food too, like a “PATTY”. I have prepared different
types of patties, but my favorite is stuffed with lobster, pork or chicken.
Delmy: How about indian chicken soup? (alguien me puede corregir si es para
sopa de gallina india no sería "indian hen soup"?) Have you ever tried this soup?
Minju: No, I haven’t. But my brother tried it when he was in El Salvador, two years
ago. Unfortunately, I have not had the opportunity, until today.
Carmen: Congratulations! (ese felicidades no lo entiendo muy bien en el contexto,
se presta algo a que sea sarcastico en mi opinión) Because, if you like spicy food,
you should try this soup.
Marisela: This dish prepared with special seasonings. In my case, I have only
prepared the roast indian chicken. I am an expert.
Minju: Hey, Who have you been to Japan?
Todas: No. I have not been in Japan.
Minju: Okey. Japanese food is one of the most popular in the world. The tourist,
prefer Yakitori. Yakitori is a dish of cuts of chicken grilled. In Japan makes use of
every part of the chicken. Yakitori has only eaten since the mid-seventeenth
century, because eating meat was a taboo in Japan.
Amanda: So, Japan It has a great culinary tradition. Like to El Salvador.
I would like to eat cassava. But, how to prepare it?
Carmen: Ok, the Cassava is cultivated roud grown throughout the region.
In this case, the cassava has been elaborated with parboiled cassava,
accompanied with cabbage and natural fried pork skin.
Delmy: But other people prefer fried cassava. Both, is served with chopped onion,
carrot and cabbage, on this tomato sauce is added and pepescas- small fried fish-
or fried pork.
Amanda: Apaneca, is definitely worth a visit. We have seen a lot of food and we
have eaten different dishes.
Minju: I love this kind of trip. I have visited amazing place in El Salvador. The next
time, I will bring other friends, they have never traveled to El Salvador. Thanks a
lot. I really appreciate your hospitality.
Marisela: No Problem
Delmy: You’re welcome. I have always wanted to tell visitors about my country.
