● At the 23rd edition of the EY Entrepreneur of The Year India awards, Founder and CEO of Nykaa, Falguni
Nayar has been named the EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2021.
● Nayar will represent India at the EY World Entrepreneur of the Year Award on June 9, 2022 in Monaco.

Indian-American defence expert Vivek Lall to receive Entrepreneur Leadership Award 2022
● Indian-American chief executive of General Atomics Global Corporation Vivek Lall has been selected for

Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC) for recognition of his contribution in the defence sector.

● The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) announced that Sir David Attenborough is the recipient of the
Champions of the Earth Lifetime Achievement Award for his dedication to research, documentation, and
advocacy for the protection of nature and its restoration.

● 2022 marks fifty years since the 1972 United Nations Conference on the Human Environment in
Stockholm, Sweden, which was one of the first international meetings on the environment.
AAP's Raghav Chadha, Ukrainian minister Fedorov in 2022 WEF’s Young Global Leaders list
● Aam Aadmi Party leader Raghav Chadha, Edelweiss Mutual Fund CEO Radhika Gupta and Ukrainian

● The National Mineral Development Corporation Ltd. (NMDC), has achieved the Public Relations Awards

Meghalaya govt’s e-Proposal System’ wins UN Award
● The Meghalaya government’s Planning Department’s key initiative of “e-Proposal System”, wins the
coveted UN Award – World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Forum Prizes 2022.
● Meghalaya has been selected by the UN as Champion Project in the category of “The role of governments
and all stakeholders in the promotion of Information and Communication Technologies for development,”
along with projects from Australia, China, Argentina and Tanzania.

● The “e-Proposal System”, part of Meghalaya Enterprise Architecture (MeghEA), eliminates 75 percent
physical work of files in government departments.
● MeghEA is a flagship initiative of Meghalaya Government, supported by National e-Gov Division (NeGD),
a first of its kind in the country.
Bidyanondo Founder Kishor Kumar Das Received 223rd Commonwealth Points of Light Award
● Kishor Kumar Das, the founder of the humanitarian organization Bidyanondo, has been awarded the
223rd Commonwealth Point of Light.

from Government of Peru
● The former Honorary Consul of Peru in Mumbai, Mr. Ardeshir B.K. Dubash, received the Order of “Merit in
the Diplomatic Service of Peru José Gregorio Paz Soldán”, the highest distinction conferred by the Ministry
of Foreign Affairs of Peru.
● The award was conferred by the Ambassador of Peru in India, H.E. Carlos R. Polo who travelled from
Delhi to Mumbai for this special occasion, bringing the decoration issued by the Minister of Foreign Affairs

● Mumbai and Hyderabad have been jointly recognised as ‘2021 Tree City of the World 'by The United

● For a second consecutive year, Hyderabad has been recognised as a 'Tree City of the World'
● National Arbor Day is observed on April 29, 2022 & the day was celebrated last friday in April every

away at the age of 92 years in Mumbai.

● Renowned Indian economist and political commentator Prabhat Patnaik has been selected for the 2022

BROs Atal Tunnel Won IBC Best Infrastructure Project award
● The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) Engineering Marvel Atal Tunnel built in Rohtang of
Himachal Pradesh received Indian Building Congress (IBC) ‘Best Infrastructure Project’ award in
New Delhi.
● The 9.02 km-long Atal Tunnel is the longest highway tunnel globally and connects Manali to
Lahaul-Spiti valley throughout the year.

● Earlier, the valley was cut off for about six months each year owing to heavy snowfall.
● The tunnel, built by using the New Austrian Tunneling Method (NATM) was dedicated to the Nation
by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on October 03, 2020.
● More than 30 State-of-the-art infrastructure projects were nominated for the award.
● Director General of the BRO, Lt General Rajeev Chaudhry, received the award during the 25th
annual convention of the IBC.

Features of BROs Atal Tunnel :
● It features a semi transverse ventilation system with large fans that circulate air in the tunnel.
● A tunnel section has an emergency tunnel that is located beneath the main carriageway.
● This tunnel can be used for evacuation in case of emergencies.
● The fires inside the tunnel will be controlled within an area of 200 metres and fire hydrants are
provided at specific locations throughout the tunnel.

Indian wildlife conservationist Charudutt Mishra won Whitley Gold Award 2022
● Charudutt Mishra, a snow leopard conservationist, was awarded the Whitely Gold Award at the
Royal Geographical Society in London.
● Princess Anne presented the award to Mishra.
● He was awarded for his contribution to involving indigenous communities in the conservation and
recovery of big cat species in Asia’s high mountain ecosystems.

● Mishra was given the award for his work in 12 snow leopard range countries including
Afghanistan, China, and Russia.

● This is Mishra’s second Whitley Fund for Nature (WFN) Award & he had won the award
previously in 2005.
About Charudutt Mishra :

● He is the first international Executive Director of the Snow Leopard Trust (SLT), founded and
headquartered in Seattle in 1981.
● Mishra, who is also the co-founder of Bengaluru-based Nature Conservation Foundation,

established India’s first community scheme to save snow leopards over a decade ago.
● He serves on the editorial boards of the journals Animal Conservation and Oryx, on the winner
selection panel of the Whitley Awards, and is a member of the IUCN’s Cat Specialist Group.
● Mishra was also instrumental in helping establish the intergovernmental Global Snow Leopard
and Ecosystem Protection Programme, which for the first time has brought authorities together in
an alliance across all 12 snow leopard range countries to enhance protection.

NASA climate research scientist Cynthia Rosenzweig Receives 2022 World Food Prize
● Cynthia Rosenzweig, a senior research scientist and head of the Climate Impacts Group at
NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) in New York City, received the 2022 World
Food Prize from the World Food Prize Foundation.
● On 5 May, 2022 President of the World Food Prize Foundation, Barbara Stinson announced the
2022 Laureate during a ceremony hosted by the U.S. Department of State.
● Rosenzweig was selected for the $250,000 prize in recognition of her innovative modeling of the
impact of climate change on food production.
● She will officially receive the World Food Prize at a ceremony in October 2022.
About Cynthia Rosenzweig :

 Rosenzweig is currently a Senior Research Scientist at the NASA Goddard Institute for Space
Studies (GISS ) and Adjunct Senior Research Scientist at the Columbia Climate School.
 Her research focuses on improving models and assessments of how climate change will affect
agriculture and the food supply in the future.

 Also, she uses data from NASA satellites and models to study agricultural regions around the
world and how they are changing.
 She was one of the Coordinating Lead Authors of the food chapter on IPCC’s Special Report on

DFPD gets Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration, 2020 for the ‘One Nation
One Ration Card’ scheme
● The Department of Food and Public Distribution (DFPD) received the prestigious Prime Minister’s
Award for Excellence in Public Administration, 2020 for its scheme ‘One Nation One Ration Card’
(ONORC).
● Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi conferred the Prime Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Public
Administration on the occasion of 15th Civil Services Day in New Delhi.

 The WHO has given the Resource Centre for Tobacco Control (e-RCTC) of the Department of

● The Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters has awarded the Abel prize for the year 2022 to American

● He has been awarded “for his groundbreaking contributions to topology in its broadest sense, and in particular its
algebraic, geometric and dynamical aspects.
● The Abel Prize was founded by the Norwegian Parliament in 2002, to commemorate the 200th birth anniversary of
Niels Henrik Abel.
● It is named after Norwegian mathematician Niels Henrik Abel.

 The Sahitya Akademi has announced its awards for 2021 for literary works in 20 languages, including novels in
Assamese and English by Anuradha Sarma Pujari and Namita Gokhale respectively.
 the national academy of letters informed that seven books of poetry, five of short stories, two plays, one each of
biography, autobiography, criticism and epic poetry had won the Sahitya Akademi Awards 2021.
 The awards for works in Gujarati, Maithili, Manipuri and Urdu would be announced at a later date.
