My people came from a long line of groups of people who were tired of fighting

for lands that were taken by people who believed they were more powerful. Turning

lushish forest and rushing rivers into barren land. A hollow representation of the wide

variety of the past. They were tired of repeating the reasons why they should be seen

the same as others, taking rights from them, framing them as if they were criminals and

dangerous. Convincing the majority that the groups are incapable of making decisions

for themselves. When the local space agency asked for volunteers to go to the

neighboring planet to see if it is colonizable the oppressed folk were first in line.

The planet was desolate with nothing but rock and asteroids that occasionally

impacted the surface. The volunteers had few supplies with the expectation by the

government they wont need further assistance. They figured they would either perish or

thrive, no matter the outcome they were interested in the process. The volunteers

discovered how to turn their vessel into a rocket ship that can make round trips from the

outer reaches of the planet to retrieve asteroids to retrieve materials for creating

shelters. They discovered if they refined one of the metals it made for a perfect mirror to

aid growing crops. As the years passed they found new uses for the metals and

minerals they discovered in the asteroids. From making efficient oxygen machines to

cores that liquified the core of the planets to create gravity.

Throughout their difficulties they made new purposes for the things around them.

Even though that is a hundred years in the past we still live by their example. Use things

around you to survive while being mindful of the environment.
