Company Background

WinZO is the largest social gaming and entertainment platform in India. Launched in early 2018,
the Company partners with third-party developers to host games on their Android app, where
users can enjoy personalized multiplayer gameplay experiences. The platform is available in 12
languages such as English, Hindi, Gujarati, Marathi, with over 80+ million registered users.
The WinZO platform facilitates over 2.5 billion micro-transactions per month across a
portfolio of 100+ games - which can be played against real-time players in micro-
transaction-led social formats. The Company envisions a future where the WinZO platform can
deliver a culturally relevant and enjoyable experience in the Indian gaming ecosystem,
monetized through a unique micro-transaction model. To support this, WinZO has already
launched 3 sets of its own Game Developers Fund with a total $ 26 Million Corpus.

With a vision of becoming a household name for Bharat, catering to their entertainment needs
through interactive engagements, Paavan Nanda (Cofounder, WinZO, Zostel & ZO Rooms) and

Problem Statement

International Expansion : WinZO has successfully established its dominance in the Indian
market with 80+ Million registered users, offering 100+ games and unique gaming formats on
the platform. As a next growth lever, WinZO is looking to expand its footprint into the global
market and create international liquidity for its product.

1. Market Assessment -
a. What are the top 3 markets for WinZO to enter and why?
b. List down all the factors that would come into picture when deciding upon the
new markets & apply relevant market entry framework. For example, one of the
key factors could be: Internet Penetration
c. Analyze the regulatory framework governing the Pay-to-play segment in the
target markets
d. Assess the competitive landscape in the target markets for feasibility assessment
e. Rank the proposed countries in order of priority (Can design a scorecard/matrix
considering important factors impacting the entry decision)
f. Should WinZO even enter the International market in the first place or restrict
itself to Indian geography?

2. Product Assessment - For the above chosen 3 markets, conduct the product
assessment and answer the following
a. Our current product caters well to the Indian market. Is it possible to expand into
the new geographies with the existing product?
b. What kind of modifications do you think would be required to the current product
to cater to these new markets? Please include UI mocks and feature
explanations in detail.
c. What additional games/game genre, formats (such as Fantasy, World War etc.)
should be introduced on the platform?
d. What other content apart from games can be leveraged on the international
product.
e. What kind of validation and success metrics will you consider to measure the
success of the product?

Equal weightage would be given to both the questions highlighted above. The entries will be
judged on -

● Understanding the current and prospective target customer segment
● Data obsession - Solution backed by data and structured thinking
● Diving deep - Ability to research covering all spheres of the problem statement
● Design thinking - Suitability for the chosen market
