HEAVY RAIN CONTINUES TO WREAK HAVOC IN

TELANGANA

Telangana state is facing severe consequences as heavy to very heavy rains continue to
wreak havoc, increasing the threat of floods. In the last 24 hours, Jainoor area in Asifabad
region recorded 39cm of rainfall followed by Kerameri with 38cm of rainfall. The India
Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert warning for several districts which
will receive heavy to extreme heavy rainfall in the coming 2 days.
Several areas in North Telangana surrounding the Godavari basin, cutting off access to villages,
chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao reviewed the flood situation in the state and insisted all the
ministers and government officials to be alert. Chief Minister also ordered to close all the
educational institutions till 18th of this month for the safety of students.
The chief minister urged people not to come out of their homes unless it is urgent. No loss of
life has been reported in the state till now. Chief minister KCR ordered all the government
officials to cancel their leaves and stay alert.
