So, talking about people’s happiness in Bhutan, his majesty observed


that many nations had modernized successfully, but it was also the
beginning of his perception that the process of development
overlooked a universal desire that people had happiness and peace
in their lives.
Basically there are 9 domains, where people’s happiness is
measured. The domains like,
Cultural diversity, living standards, health and education, good
governance, psychological well-being, time use, community vitality,
ecological diversity. These domains are further splitted into sub
domains.
So the happiness is calculated based on these domains. In 2014, Out
of 8L population, the GNH survey was set at 8000 people and the
questionnaire was sent to these many people. And the questions are
like asking them how happy you are? How happy did you feel
yesterday? So, the person’s happiness is calculated by these
So, the questions include nominal data , ordinal data and categorized
with different scales like exploratory research, descriptive and casual.
So the response rate to this survey is 76% from urban, 82% from
rural and 80% from Bhutan. So based on these data, they concluded
that the nation is quite happy.
