The recipient of services cannot measure the quality of medical services received. Once the
medical problem is complex, it is impossible for patients to be left alone to face an
increasingly wild health market.
We should be grateful for technological advances, as there are many trends in disease that
can be cured and life expectancy is improving. But on the other hand, health costs are
getting out of control. This is the biggest problem facing all countries.
You know, many countries are no longer strong enough to support the health burden of
their people. Because the increase in health costs is only a symptom, while the real disease
lies in the greed and incompetence of health service providers.
Technological advances only bring benefits if they are received by a well-coordinated and
organized service provider. On the other hand, it will be disastrous if it falls into the hands of
a fragmented service.
At present, in general, the hospital still refers to the first hospital work design, when the
hospital was in the 19th century. Specialists (specialists and subspecialists) do not yet realize
the need to divide roles in treating patients. Many complications experienced by patients
occur due to uncoordinated services. The workings of traditional hospitals like this are still
very thick, fragmented.
In their work, medical personnel are still trapped in the corridors of their respective
specializations and subspecialties. For example, the Radiology, Cardiology, Anesthesia,
Surgery, Internal Medicine, and Gynecology departments still carry their own culture and
work hierarchy.
In treating patients, each of them demands more authority, rather than opening
opportunities for teamwork to get the best for the patient. As a result, don't be surprised if
quality and cost control is difficult.
