This monument was built by Spanish at the end of the 16th century; Nobles and
important people lived here in colonial times. Its construction began on September 8
of 1614, after the attack of legendary Sir Francis Drake and by order of King Philip
III and it took two centuries for this majestic military structure was finished. the one
that suffered the most attacks from pirates and buccaneers. It was also the one that
suffered the most attacks by pirates and buccaneers.The walls were considered one
of the symbols of Cartagena and world Heritage; it's the most conserved and
complete fortification in South America. This monument is located on the fishing
shores of the Caribbean Sea, in the department of Bolívar, Colombia.
