Final Project Reflection

Confined to Consumerism: Reflections

Due to circumstances with my dog, I was not able to complete my previous final project of mold
making. There was also an issue with my molds of using actual tin can and plastic bottles. I
would like to explore this specific installation idea in the near future.

As for Confined to Consumerism, I would change the fact that I only used 70% of my partners
things and did not take clothes from the suitcase nor pieces from the backpacks and computer
bags. I would have utilized the bedroom more in the sense of taking up the entire room to
display all of the objects.

As I was completing the assignment, I did reflect on my own part in consumerism compared to
my partner. For a minute I thought about having more clothes than him but that was really not
the case. I had more objects such as art supplies and larger things that took up more space on
the bed.

As I worked on the assignment it caused me to remember when I was younger, I loved to shop.
It gave me satisfaction to go out and but things with my many credit cards. This eventually
caused me to get behind on payments and start to affect my credit. I had taken a lot of time to
work on that. Today, I don’t have an attachment to any objects. I am able to let go of literally
anything. It’s not items that I care about, it’s the memories of the people in my life.

I do like the editing of the video of the economics professor Dr. Wolf and the music of The Clash
playing in the background. I think that was very powerful and it worked out nicely.
