Title of the Final Paper (TCC)

Summary (or Executive Summary)

The abstract is a general description of the paper, presenting in summary all the
sections of the Final Paper. This section should be written in a clear and objective manner,
informing readers of what the Final Paper consists and arousing their interest for reading the
entire study. The terms Abstract and Keywords must be written in bold, aligned to the left
with only the first letter of the word in capital letter. The Abstract should contain no more than
250 words, being written in a single paragraph, in simple spacing and in the past tense. The
beginning of the section should contain a short presentation on the importance/justification
(contextualization of the theme) of the paper. Then, the general objective should be
presented, which should be written in a brief and direct manner. It should contain a brief
description of the method / algorithm used, addressing the most important aspects for the
understanding of the final paper. The end of the abstract should contain a general conclusion
(with one or two sentences), emphasizing the importance of the method / algorithm, its
practical implications and its usefulness for decision-making purposes. The preparation of
the "Abstract" and "Keywords" or "Resumen" and "Palabras Clave" it is necessary follow the
same rules. The Abstract must be followed by a maximum of five keywords (or "Palabras
Clave") different from those contained in the Title and inserted immediately, without spacing,
after the Abstract.
Key-words: (insert up to five words different from those contained in the title, separated by
semicolon).

Title in English or Spanish (optional).

Initial Considerations

The title of the section “Initial Considerations” should be written in bold, aligned to the
left, and with the first letter capitalized.
In this section, the author should contextualize the subject and present the objectives
of the final paper and the proposed method/ algorithm (based on bibliographic citations from
reliable sources, if possible). The purpose of using the algorithm(s) should also be
presented, that is, for the purposes of unspervised analysis, supervised analysis, ensemble
modeling, text mining, web crawlers development, deep learning, etc. Finally, limitations of

the developed method / algorithm may also be presented (optional). This section should be
written in no more than two pages.
Implementation of Machine Learning Algorithm(s)

The section title "Implementation of Machine Learning Algorithm(s)" should be written

in bold, left aligned, first letters of the words capitalized. The text of the section should be
written in the past tense, impersonal form, and can be divided into subtopics with special
indentation of 1.25 cm, the first letter capitalized, in bold, separated from the section titles or
the preceding or subsequent paragraphs by one line.
In this topic, the description of the Dataset(s) used for the implementation of the
developed and/or proposed algorithm(s) should be presented, being from primary or
secondary data sources.
If the data are collected from a particular institution or if they are restricted property
and not subject to disclosure, the name of the property or institution or company where the
data were collected should not be mentioned, nor the name(s) of the owner(s). The option to
discriminate or identify the property, institution or company, as well as the name of the
eventual owner(s), imputes to the author the entire responsibility for obtaining authorization
from them for the citation and the consequent total exemption of the MBA USP/ESALQ for
this option.
In the sequence, the algorithm(s) themselves should be presented, with explanatory
comments at each step / stage and in programming language.

Results and Discussion

The title of the Results and Discussion section should be aligned to the left, written in
bold with the first letters of the words in capital letters.
In this section, the results obtained by implementing the Machine Learning
algorithm(s) on the chosen Dataset(s) should be presented and discussed, such as outputs,
estimated models, formulas and equations, and illustrative graphs.
This section also includes comments on what might be shown in the outputs if certain
points of the implemented algorithm(s) are changed.
Discussions about the advantages and disadvantages of implementing the
algorithm(s) presented, based on the outputs generated, are also included in this section.

Conclusion(s) or Final Considerations

3
Paper presented to obtain the title of specialist in ___ (Course name) –
____ (presentation year)

The title of the section “Conclusion(s) or Final Considerations” should be aligned to

the left and written in bold.
This section should contain short sentences, presenting the conclusions and
inferences elaborated from the implementation of the algorithm(s) and the results obtained,
focusing even on its significance, its practical implications, and its usefulness for decision-
making purposes.
Authors should not, under any circumstances, mention, cite or reproduce results of
other studies when preparing and writing the conclusion(s) of their final paper. This section
should not contain tables or figures and should be written in no more than two paragraphs.

Acknowledgements (optional, 1 paragraph, very brief)

The title of the section Acknowledgments should be aligned to the left and written in
bold, with the first letter of the word written in capital letter.
It is an optional section, with a maximum of three lines, in which the author thanks
those who contributed in a relevant way to the development of the study and elaboration of
the final paper, but which did not have the intellectual involvement necessary to assign co-
authorship to it, totally abstaining from mentioning or citing the names of companies,
institutions or people who allowed or contributed to the development of the paper, unless
there are documents authorizing it.

References

The student should read the manual of “Standards for the Final Paper Elaboration”
available in the Final Paper system, to format the references according to the institution's
instructions.
