CLIMATE CHANGE AND ITS IMPACTS ON THE GLOBE

COMPOSITION OF THE INTRODUCTION

Quotation:

"A nation that destroys its soils destroys itself. Forests are the lungs of our land,
purifying the air and giving fresh strength to our people."

-- Franklin D. Roosevelt

STARTERS: To attract or win the attention of the examiner.

1- Earth is the planet that is full of diversity necessary for the growth of human beings who are
enjoying the unmatchable beauty of this planet.
2- However, life can only flourish on earth if the living environment is healthy enough for its
inhabitants and any change in the natural ecosystem is detrimental for the life on earth.

THEME STATEMENT: It’s the crux of essay and it limits the scope of essay

Climatic change, an approaching catastrophic storm , is a phenomenon which is appearing on the

horizon owing to the global change in weather patterns which is affecting the world socially and
economically and Pakistan is the worst hit country from this menace; therefore, the world must
formulate a strategy to put the genie of climatic change back into the bottle in order to save the
humanity from imminent threat of complete destruction.

NOTE: After the theme statement, mention all the points that you plan to discuss in the essay, but
very briefly.

NECK - UPPER MIDDLE PART OF THE ESSAY

In the neck portion, you have to discuss historical background, current scenario, definition and
types, if any.

BODY-PARAGRAPHS: NECK DISCUSSION ABOUT CLIMATE CHANGE

Write about the history of climatic change and its current scenario.

MIDDLE PART OF THE ESSAY - ANALYTICAL DISCUSSION

CAUSE –EFFECT SCENARIO

BODY – PARAGRAPHS TOPIC STATEMENT Cause / effect.

TOPIC STATEMENTS – CLIMATIC CHANGE – CAUSES / EFFECTS

TOPIC STATEMENT 01: Cause / Effect.

Industrialization and global weather pattern.
Industrial revolution has brought technological innovations in all the fields of life but
emissions from industries have caused irreparable damage to the climate of earth resulting
in extreme weather patterns in different parts of the world.

TOPIC STATEMENT 02: Cause / Effect.

Urbanization and climatic change.
Lack of vision and planning by the governments in developing the cities has resulted in the
massive removal of forest cover from urban areas allowing the evil of smog to strangulate
the lives of people.

3

TOPIC STATEMENT 03- Cause/Effect.

Population explosion and climatic change.
Population explosion has also triggered the epidemic of climatic change as the growing
population is tearing apart the natural ecosystem of the earth by exploiting this planet in
every possible way.

TOPIC STATEMENT 04- Cause/ Effect.

Poor policy making and climate change.
The world has failed to address the growing need of formulating a policy to counter the
change in the global climate pattern which is proving to be disastrous for the inhabitants of
this planet and it is cardinal to carve out a strategy to save the humanity from extinction.

TOPIC STATEMENT 05 Cause / Effect.

Carbon Emissions.
Carbon emissions have proved to be the final nail in the coffin of nature owing to the fact
that carbon emissions are the basic cause of the rise of temperature of the world triggering
the change in the climate of the world.

TOPIC STATEMENT 06 Cause/Effect.

Warfare and climatic change.
Innovations in warfare have shattered the earth to its core destroying the ecosystem of
earth which has proved fatal for the natural climate pattern of earth.

TOPIC STATEMENT 07 Cause /Effect.

Failure of the UN.
The UN has failed to ensure the implementation of environmental pacts owing to the
blatant refusal of the world powers to abide by the laws related to environmental
protection bringing a total change in the weather patterns all around the globe.

TOPIC STATEMENT 08 Cause/ Effect.

Deforestation.
Forest cover has been wiped out by the mankind to materialize the plans of agricultural and
industrial advancement which has brought horrible consequences for the climate of the
globe .

TOPIC STATEMENT 09 Cause/ Effect.

Economic and technological competition.

PREPARED BY: CSP WAQAR HASSAN 44TH COMMON

4

Economic and technological competition among the world powers has resulted in the
collapse of climatic organs of this planet as the developed nations of the world use fossils in
place of green energy to achieve their targets, thereby, inviting the curse of climatic change.

TOPIC STATEMENT 10 Cause/Effect.

Fear of adopting change.
Many nations around the world are reluctant to adopt the new ways of living required to
protect the climate out of the fear that it may result in the collapse of their economies.

SUGGESTIONS PART (2 – 3 paragraphs)

SUGGESTIONS MUST BE LOGICAL AND PRACTICAL

BODY- PARAGRAPHS REMEDIAL MEASURES REQUIRED

SUGGESTIONS:

1- Body-paragraph Renewable energies

The first way to prevent climate change is to move away from fossil fuels. Renewable
energies like solar, wind, biomass and geothermal are the alternatives.

2- Body Paragraph Energy & water efficiency

Producing clean energy is essential, but reducing our consumption of energy and
water by using more efficient devices is equally important.

3- Body paragraph Sustainable transportation

Promoting public transportation, carpooling, but also electric and hydrogen mobility,
can definitely help reduce CO2 emissions and thus fight global warming .

4- Body paragraph. Planned urbanization

The governments must make efficient policies to minimize the impact of

urbanization on the environment.

5- Body paragraph Sustainable agriculture & forest management

PREPARED BY: CSP WAQAR HASSAN 44TH COMMON

5

Encouraging better use of natural resources, stopping massive deforestation as well

as making agriculture greener and more efficient should also be a priority.

6- Body paragraph Responsible consumption & recycling

Adopting responsible consumption habits is crucial, be it regarding food (particularly
meat), clothing, cosmetics or cleaning products. Last but not least, recycling is an
absolute necessity for dealing with waste.
7- Body paragraph Change in behaviour.
Humans need to change their behaviour, radically and globally, on every level to
protect this planet from further deterioration.

CONCLUDING YOUR ESSAY

AFTER THE THEME STATEMET OF CONCLUSION, FINISH YOUR ESSAY BY SUMMARIZING THE MAIN
POINTS IN THE FORM OF CRITICAL ANALYSIS.

BODY- PARAGRAPH: CONCLUSION.

Theme statement of conclusion:

Human beings have exploited the earth in every possible way which has badly affected its ecosystem
bringing undesirable changes in patterns of climate, thereby, threatening the very existence of mankind
on earth and the world must act to counter this emerging problem to safeguard the world against the
disastrous impacts of climate change in order to make this planet a livable place for our future generations.

that can do something about it." -- Jay Inslee
