for Architecture & Urbanism students in Tirana

TIRANA.
Architecture as Political Actor
What happens?
On Saturday, June 15 and Sunday, June 16, 2019 a group of 18 architecture and urbanism
students from Weimar/Germany are working in Tirana, exploring the political impact of
built structures.
Based on the research they started in Germany, they will get in contact with the buildings,
its inhabitants, possible interview partners. The aim is to understand the impact of the
built structure itself on political, cultural and social developments in Tirana in the 20th
century. As an artistic research, students will take photographs trying to show this impact
of the built structures with the means of photography.
The findings of this field trip will be collected in an architectural guide book to Tirana and
an exhibition at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar in October 2019.

What do we look for?

If you are interested in working for a few hours during those two day with students from
Weimar, supporting them in getting in touch with the built structures and especially with
the inhabitants, we would welcome you warmly! All in all, we are looking for six students.

What do you get?

In this project you would get to know students from your field of study from another
country in a common project. Thus, you would gain an impression of the way of working/
studying in Germany. And of course you would have the opportunity to experience a very
interesting way to adopt theory of architecture to „reality“!
As we will have an architectural guide book and an exhibition, we would of course list
your name on both publications. We also would like to invite you to the opening of the
exhibition in October - however, we have to ask for the funding in Weimar before we can
confirm that.
