Assignment 7

A. Use the z-table to find the area that is located between z=0 and each of the following z-
values:
1. Z = 0.56 – Area: 0.2123
2. Z = 1.32 – Area: 0.4066
3. Z = -1.05 – Area: 0.3531
4. Z = -2.18 – Area: 0.4854
5. Z = -2.58 – Area: 0.4951

B. Do the indicated task.

1. Explain why the proportion of the area to the left of z = -2.58 is 0.49%.
- The proportion of the area to the left of z = -2.58 is 0.49% or 0.0049. We got this
value after subtracting the area of the z-score which is 0.4951 from 0.5.
2. Explain why the total area of the region between z = -3 and z = 3 is 0.9974 or
99.74%.
- The total area of the region between z = -3 and z = 3 is 0.9974 or 99.74%. We got
this value after summing up both of the values of their area which is 0.4987.
