Muhammad’s predictions about the end time

Men will sleep with men, and women with women. That will result in new
diseases the world has never seen before. {Subtle hint: this virus, and
dozens of diseases unheard of at the time of the Prophet}¡

Undoubtedly, a period will come upon people wherein not a single person
will be saved from indulging in interest. If anyone avoids direct indulgence
in interest, yet he will not escape from the smoke (effects) thereof.. Its
effects will somehow reach him.(Narrated by Abu Hurairah) {Subtle hint:
after we moved to the U.S., the lawyer convinced Catherine Schuon to put
the zakat in an investment firm. She was proud to have them live only on
the procedes from interest}¡

The time will be years of confusion. People will believe a liar, and
disbelieve one who tells the truth. People will distrust one who is
trustworthy, and trust one who is treacherous.(Ahmad) {My life}¡

The day of Judgment will not come until the very lowest people are the
happiest.(Tirmidhi)

In the End Times, people will be carrying out their trade but hardly will there
be a trustworthy person.(Bukhari and Muslim)

Verily in the presence of the Last Hour, there would be … false testimony
and concealing evidence.(Ahmad and Hakim) {In this story too}¡

The only measure by which people will be judged will be wealth, respect
being dependent on how rich a person is:
When the power or authority comes in the hands of unfit persons, then wait
for the Hour (Doomsday.).(Bukhari) {Spiritual leaders being the worst}¡

A man is unfilial towards his mother, and drives his father far off…(Tirmidhi)

When the old have no compassion for the young, when the young show no
respect to the old … when children grow angry … Judgment is at
hand.(Reported by Omar (r.a.)

Divorces will be a daily occurrence.(‘Allamah Safarini, Ahwal Yaum

al-Qiyamah)

There will be an abundance of illegitimate children.(Al-Muttaqi Al-Hindi,

Muntakhab Kanzul Ummaal)

Meanness and greed will multiply.(Muslim, Ibn Majah)

At that time, people will sell their religion for a small amount of worldly
goods.(Ahmad)

Deceit and cheating will be common,(‘Allamah Safarini, Ahwal Yaum

al-Qiyamah)

Bribes will be called gifts, and will be considered lawful.(Amal al-Din

al-Qazwini, Mufid al-‘ulum wa-mubid al-humum)

Many predictions are found in the chapters, called “Fitan,” that are in the six
great collections of hadith (pl. ahadith): Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Dawud, etc.
Bukhari’s are pretty well-summarized in volume two of the easily obtained
book, A History of the Prophets of Islam, by Suzanne Haneef, in two
volumes.

From memory, here are many: A time will come when there will be floods,
earthquakes, draughts and severe phenomena. If it were not for the
animals, God would be so angry with mankind, that it would never rain
again. * Knowledge of Islam will be exceedingly reduced, such that Islam
will seem to be a stranger, like it was when it first appeared. * The worst
among you will become your leaders. (Now, right now, we see this in
politics; however, where it counts infinitely more, is in false SPIRITUAL
leaders, in all religions.) We are approaching ONLY ONE heresy, in Sufism,
or say it is a heresy in universalism within all esoterism. That means that
the falsehood is not just within Islamic esoterism, there are countless other
false leaders. When a false leader speaks right to the spirit, or heart, of
those who are gifted with intellectual intuition, then he is creating a heresy
that appeals to the apparent “cream of the intellectual crop.” They are not
REALLY the cream of any crop, however, unless they follow the truth, and
make their characters good. But also, even forgetting about the cream,
there are fine people, more like milk – they are good, and there are more of
them. Those people are longing to be broad-minded and to see good in
many religions. A FALSE (not a true) universalism, perennialism, or
traditionalism quite appeals to what is good in them. As an extreme
example, think of the false impression that Jalal ad-Din Rumi makes in the
west. More on that later). * Women will rule (and that doesn’t mean just that
they’ll rule countries; they’ll also rule over their husbands, and everywhere).
* There will be women singers. * Laws will no longer be based on the
Quran; and that will result in Muslims fighting Muslims. * Knowledge will no
longer be for the faith. (We go as far as China to learn technology. Now
science, up to a point, is included in religion; but see the works of Seyyed
Hossein Nasr, an unsurpassable expert on religion and science. The big
question is: “When should we stop exploiting the material world?”; and the
answer is: “We should have stopped long ago!) * The lowest classes of
people will compete against one another in the construction of high
buildings. * And the social classes will be confused: essentially a servant
may be noble and her mistress ignoble (my interpretation).* And, a man will
obey his wife, while disobeying his mother. * Ash-Sham (which includes
Syria and parts of other countries) will be destroyed. * Cities will be
destroyed; but new cities will be built in deserts. * People with clothes on,
will be naked too (in tight-fitting, low cut and/or transparent clothes – as
most of us see daily).* Honesty will be lost, and the wealthy will be the least
generous. (One percent of the people hold 48% of the world’s wealth, no?)
These signs will all appear before the major ones, some of which may be
hard to interpret. In Christianity, The Book of Daniel and the Book of
Revelations are both full of signs; but they need scholars to interpret them.
Maybe someone of another revelation could add to this later; but the above
minor predictions from Islam are easy to grasp; however, the major signs
require Gnosis. Once they start, they will follow one another one after the
other like beads on a necklace. The Dajjal certainly has been here for
sometime. Others say The Beast of the Earth has been here too: however,
I do not feel competent to introduce "him."

So what should we do when we see that these predictions have been

fulfilled – like right now? There are only a few, but crystal clear, orders: Do
not stay in the community anymore; forget (most) others, and do not try to
fight (argue, preach, convince, pay, help in the large community), no! Be
passive, non-violent, but vocal (?) “Strike your sword on stones (to break it)
because, if you get involved, you will find yourselves in situations from
which you cannot escape.” The more passive you are then, the better:
walk, don’t run; and sit, don’t stand. Be uninvolved in every way possible.

Go into your house, and lock the door; just pray (etc.) until death comes to
you. OR: Take a herd of sheep or goats to a valley or to a mountain top.
Pray, isolated there, until death comes.

There are surely vocational exceptions; but these are the general orders.
Another, that may seem paradoxical, is: Even if you think the world will end
tomorrow, plant a tree!

Now as often happens, one of you Theophiluses has written to me and

refined my ideas in these last few paragraphs, about being uninvolvolved.
He says that yes, we are in the predicted End Time, and yes, we should not
get involved, talk, preach, try to help the generality of mankind. They will
drag us down, ruin us. But we SHOULD still be involved with the kind of
people who are “knocking” – as in the words of Christ: “Knock, and it shall
be opened unto you.” Those are those we SHOULD stay involved with,
cooperate with, help and share with. The difference between the two types
of people was given in the two verses from the Bible: The knock and it shall
be opened verse, which shows us we should open to seekers; and the
verse “Cast not your pearls before swine,” which indicates the kinds of
people who will take advantage of us, profane our gifts of whatever kind.

There are many ahadith about knowledge of religion, and applying it in

daily life. Here are a few quotes:

There will come a time for my people when there will remain nothing of the
Qur’an except its outward form and nothing of Islam except its name and
they will call themselves by this name even though they are the people
furthest from it.(Ibn Babuya, Thawab ul-A’mal)

The Prophet (saas) said that, despite the fact that the Qur’an will be read,
the knowledge and wisdom it contains will not be considered. This is
another sign of the time of the End Times.

There will come a time upon the Ummah when people will recite the
Qur’an, but it will not go further than their throats, (into their
hearts).(Bukhari)

It will be a sign of the Last Day that after Allah has completely revealed in
the Qur’an what is lawful and what is forbidden, laws and commands will be
given that are not essential to religion:

A time will come when a man will not care about how he gets things,
whether lawful or unlawful.(Bukhari)

There will appear in latter times a people who will gain this world with the
help of religion.(Tirmidhi)

Allah’s Messenger (saas) said, “In the End Times men will come forth who
will fraudulently use religion for worldly ends and wear sheepskins in public
to display meekness. Their tongues will be sweeter than sugar, but their
hearts will be the hearts of wolves.”(Tirmidhi)

It is a sign that the Doomsday is approaching when people know that Allah
has commanded them to prefer goodness and shun evil, but do not
observe it:

The Last Hour will not be established until there will remain those people
who will neither be aware of the virtues and never prevent the
vices.(Ahmad)

The Hour will come when leaders are oppressors.(Al-Haythami, Kitab

al-Fitan)

There will come a time for my people when… the mosques will be full of
people but they will be empty of right guidance.(Ibn Babuya, Thawab
ul-A’mal)

Undoubtedly, a period will come upon people wherein not a single person
will be saved from indulging in interest. If anyone avoids direct indulgence
in interest, yet he will not escape from the smoke (effects) thereof.. Its
effects will somehow reach him.(Narrated by Abu Hurairah)

There will be years of deceit, in which a truthful person will be disbelieved

and a liar will be believed(Ibn Kathir)

The time will be years of confusion. People will believe a liar, and
disbelieve one who tells the truth. People will distrust one who is
trustworthy, and trust one who is treacherous.(Ahmad)

The day of Judgment will not come until the very lowest people are the
happiest.(Tirmidhi)

When the power or authority comes in the hands of unfit persons, then wait
for the Hour (Doomsday.).(Bukhari)
When the old have no compassion for the young, when the young show no
respect to the old … when children grow angry … Judgment is at
hand.(Reported by Omar (r.a.)

There will be an abundance of illegitimate children.(Al-Muttaqi Al-Hindi,

Muntakhab Kanzul Ummaal)

Meanness and greed will multiply.(Muslim, Ibn Majah)

At that time, people will sell their religion for a small amount of worldly
goods.(Ahmad)

Bribes will be called gifts, and will be considered lawful.(Amal al-Din
