Model 5 Version 7.5 Upgrade Installation Instructions.

1. Install the CD into your cd drive. If the CD auto starts proceed to step 5.
2. Double click My Computer and Double Click your CD drive.
3. Double click on ProverSetup.exe.
4. The following setup screen should appear.

5. Select the appropriate screen size and click on Install.

7. Followed by the next 3 screens. Click next each time to proceed.

8. When the next screen appears, choose the directory where the model 5 software is installed. The default
directory is C:\Program Files\Dresser Inc\Model 5 Transfer Prover.

9. The next screen allow for a program group called Model 5 prover. Click next to install a program group
called Model 5 prover or type a new name or select a different program group and click next.

10. The next screen show the files being installed followed by the installation complete screen.

11. Click Finish to complete the Model 5 software installation. Next you must install the Labview runtime
module.

12. On the next screen click OK to install/update the Labview runtime module.

13. Click Next on the following 3 screens to update the Labview runtime module.

14. Check the “I accept the license agreement” box and click the Next > button to continue the installation.
The following screen will appear.

15. Click Next > to use the default installation directory or click on browse to choose a different directory.
The following screen will appear click Next > to continue the installation.

16. The following appears showing the progression of the installation.

17. Finish on the next screen to complete the installation. If you are installing the USB to serial adapter
proceed to the next section “Installing the Labview CVI runtime module”.

Installing Labview CVI runtime for the Model 5 Prover

Labview CVI runtime is a new component for the Model 5 Prover software and must be installed to facilitate
the communications between the computer and the MC. The first installation screen will appear as below.

1. Press the NEXT > button to continue the installation.

2. The following screen will appear. Press Next > to use the default directory C:\Program Files\CVI
Runtime Engine\ or Press the Browse button to select a different directory.

3. The following screen will appear. Press Next > to continue with the installation.

5. The following screen will appear showing the progression of the installation.

6. One the installation is complete the following screen will appear.

7. Press Finish to complete the installation. The required software for Version 7.5 of the Model 5 software
is now complete. To install the drivers for the USB cable follow the instructions below.

Installing the USB to Serial Adapter for the Model 5 Prover

Windows XP

1. Connect the USB to serial adapter to an open USB port on your computer. Your computer should
identify that a new hardware has been installed. Click No, not this time.

2. On the next screen select, Install the software automatically (Recommended).

3. On the next screen, click Continue Anyway to complete the installation.

4. If the below box does not pop up, proceed to Step 11. If the screen does appear, click ok.

5. On the next screen click Browse…

6. On the next screen, choose the CD drive where you inserted the Model 5 Software CD.

7. On the next screen, double-click on the folder titled “USB DRIVER”

8. Double-click on the folder titled “cp 2102”

9. Double-click on the folder titled “x86” for a 32-bit device or the folder titled “x64” for a 64-bit device.

10. Click Open

11. On the next screen, click Finish to complete the installation.

12. To select the com port, click on START, then Control Panel.

13. In the Control Panel, click on the System icon.

14. In the System screen, click on the Hardware tab.

15. In the Hardware tab, select Device Manager, then click on Port (COM & LPT)

16. Double click on Dresser Roots Meters and Instruments USB Converter Kit (COM). Then click on
Advanced… and select a COM Port between COM5 and COM10.

17. Click OK to save the setting, then close out the Device Manager and Control Panel.

18. Now start the software, go to Prover Setup, and select the Controller COM Port that you chose in Step 9
and click on the check box labeled USB TO SERIAL.

19. The Prover is now ready for use with the USB to serial adapter.
