Preliminary Work (Rationale):

Describe the general problem in your school that you aim to work on. Explain why you consider it as the “right problem” to be solved. Describe
what have been done to address this problem in your school. Were they successful or not? What gaps do you see in these earlier solutions?

Phase 1: Empathize and Define the Problem

Stage 1: Empathize

The innovator is given time to empathize or feel for someone who may have or facing some problems. They look at the
needs and concerns of the person whom they are empathizing with, as well as, the social or personal situations they are in.

Guide questions in the Empathy Map:

• What does the person think or feel?
• What does the person see?
• What does the person hear?
• What does the person say or do?
• Pain: What are their biggest frustrations? What obstacles stand in their way? Which risks might they fear taking?
• Gain: What do they need to achieve? How can they become successful or have a good life?

Stage 2: Defining the Problem

In this stage, the innovator defines the specific problem or sets of problems that is intended to be solved. The problem is stated in the
format: “How might…”

Example:
 How might we help students increase the reading comprehension level of students in Social Studies?
 How might we enable effective feedback loop for students using printed modules and has no gadgets at home?
 How might we make the school a bullying-free campus?
 How might we help illiterate parents to be better learning managers at home?

Note: Do NOT yet think of a solution! Focus on developing the problem first.

Write your specific problem here:

Example: How might we help parents who cannot read and write to be better learner managers at home for Kinder students who use
print-based distance learning?

Phase 2: Ideating and Prototyping

Stage 3: Ideating Solutions

Innovators lay their plan on how to solve or provide a solution to the problem. They identify as many solutions as they can. In the end,
they need to choose the “best” solution according to feasibility, effectivity, and efficiency.”

 feasibility - Is the solution “do-able” or capable of being accomplished?

 effectivity - Will the solution be “effective” enough to address and solve the problem?
 efficiency - Is the solution something that can be done with less effort, money, or materials?

The “BEST” Solution is… Face-to-face reading class for parents when they get the modules of their children.

Because: it is cost-efficient, will not require much investment/budget.
