Basic Fire Prevention


Compressed Gas Cylinders Use
1. Cylinder gas regulators should be inspected daily including accurate
gauges, no dents or crack in gauge covers.
2. Flash back arrestor should be in place between gas nozzle/torch
and cylinders. Arrestors shall be regularly checked with soapy water
test for any leaks.
3. Ensure that cylinder is secured to avoid accidental fall.
4. Do not use oil or grease on the gas cylinder valves or regulators.
5. Cylinders should not be left exposed to direct sunlight
6. Cylinders shall be kept clear of impact from sparks, flames or slag
from cutting operations
7. Hoses shall be unwound from gas cylinder trolley units when in use
8. Gas hoses shall be run clear of walkways to prevent damage to
hoses
9. Fire equipment shall be immediately available
10.Hoses shall be depressurized when work complete, or temporarily
suspended
11. Work area to be kept clear of flammable and combustible
materials
