PASSPORT PICTURE

In order to process applications for new Austrian passports

pictures must conform with the following specifications:

Dimensions: 38 mm x 48 mm minimum
Color: medium grade saturation
(over or underexposed photos cannot be accepted)
black & white photos are not admissible
Background: white
Surface quality: smooth high gloss (no imprinted pattern) frameless
View: frontal facial view
neutral facial expression
straight head posture, eyes level
lips closed
If eye glasses (lenses and/or frames) are causing glare/reflections, or if
they obstruct the eyes, spectacles must be taken off.

Adults:
eye distance:
10 mm from pupil to pupil
eye position:
above horizontal center line

Infants:
due to cranial anatomy typical for
infants, and in order to display the whole
head within the dimensions of the
passport picture,
- interpupillary distance may be smaller
