3. Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?

Actions speak louder than words.

Use specific reasons and examples to support your response.

I strongly agree with this statement. The words used in our lives are usually some promises and
verbal statements, which are relatively easy to make, due to their verbal nature; Speak is an
action that requires little effort whether you ignore the responsibilities words can imply.
Conversely, actions are a solid statement.

The first consideration is that words, whether verbal or written, have a volatile nature; some
words can be easily expressed in some situations, without considering the consequences. For
instance, when a person makes an unsustainable promise, or tells a lie, in the heat of the
moment to quickly reach his goal.

In contrast, the actions have a powerful meaning, because they normally require a lot more
effort and dedication than only speaking and promising; consequently, people notice and value
them much more. To illustrate, when people receive a present, whether is a simple gesture or
a complex and expensive gift, they tend to appreciate it substantially more than just a text
message.

Therefore, actions speak louder than just words. But it’s important to punctuate that if the
words are responsibly used and followed by acts, this combination of words and action, can be
a powerful and solid resource of communication.
4. Compare yourself today and yourself five years ago. In what ways are you the same or

different? Use specific examples to support your response.

In these five years, I have changed a lot of things, including some dreams, life goals, perceptions,
and the way I handle some problems. However, I consider that I kept the same gist, due to the
fact that I have maintained the same essence of characteristics.

My five-year ago version didn’t care much about planning and thinking in the long term for some
themes, like dreams or life goals. In fact, I don’t like thinking about these even nowadays, but I
realized the importance of sometimes sketching about the long-term future. To illustrate, I
hadn’t any idea of what area or profession I’d like to do and didn’t even care about thinking and
beginning to choose.

I was also very lazy and a hard procrastinator, I didn’t accomplish much of the tasks without
short-term rewards. In the past years, I have worked a lot to improve and dwindle
procrastination, despite I’m still very lazy to do a lot of tasks. For instance, my five years ago
version didn’t study for any school tests at all, now I must study for university tests.

In summary, I have changed my perceptions, especially thinking about the long-term actions
that I should take, and improved the way that I handle some situations; although my
characteristics and preferences haven’t had a drastic alteration in their gist.
