Ocelots are most populous in Central America, but are also present

from the southern United States, western and eastern Mexico to


South America. It is also present in northern and northeastern
Argentina and Paraguay. In Panama, some studies have determined
the distribution area and circadian activity of this feline on the
Barro Colorado island, because this island has a tropical rain forest.
In other places they have been observed in Darien and Chiriqui.
Ocelots are found in diverse habitats, such as tropical forests,
savannah grasslands, mangrove forests and swamps, and thorn
scrub regions.
