Coaching is a resource for helping individuals, organizations, and systems realize their fullest poten-
tial. Coaching works in both personal and organizational relationships. It equips leaders at all levels to
relate and lead from their hearts and heads. Coaching, utilized in both corporate and nonprofit organiza-
tions, is a leadership process that enables people to be authentic and productive.

The Pastoral Institute in Columbus, GA, is offering a series of Coaching workshops during 2013 that
will provide participants with the coaching skills needed to work with teams, staff, or volunteer groups.
As a leader, you may have an interest in this training, or you may have staff members within your or-
ganization who could benefit by learning coaching skills.

All classes are based on the International Coach Federation competencies. The Introduction to
Leadership Coaching workshop has been approved for 16 General HRCI credits. Certification cred-
its are pending for the other three workshops.

The 2013 Leadership Coaching Series is now scheduled and you are encouraged to register soon.
See instructions below. For more information about the Series, please contact John Adams at
jadams@pilink.org or Margie Watson at mwatson@pilink.org.

Introduction to Leadership Coaching

January 24-25, 2013
Participants will be introduced to how coaching relationships are structured, and a vari-
ety of coaching resources and tools will be provided. Coaching principles and practices will
be disseminated through experience and practice. Personal application and reinforcement
of coaching principles will be utilized. This workshop is a prerequisite for the other work-
shops. Approved for 16 General HRCI Credits.
The use of this seal is not an endorsement by the HR Certification Institute of the quality of the program. It means that this pro-
gram has met the HR Certification Institute's criteria to be pre-approved for recertification credit.

Coaching Teams
April 25-26, 2013
A team is characterized by shared vision and leadership, definable goals, clear roles/responsibilities
and an effective process. Otherwise the group is a board or committee, not a team. Quality relationships
displaying respect, trust and enjoyment for one another are essential. A team also has a positive plan for
addressing conflict.

Coaching teams requires the ability to build a strong sense of consensus, and the ability to handle
such distractions as monopolizers, the withdrawn, and the angry. This session will support the develop-
ment of specific skills and tools for working most effectively with teams. HRCI Credit Pending

Using Assessments in Coaching
July 25-26, 2013
The application of psychometric testing and other assessment tools to assist in personal and team
awareness are becoming common practice in business, industry and even in ministry. They are used
extensively for staff selection and for enhancing leadership and team development. Participants in this
module will be introduced to the Emergenetics assessment and will examine a number of other tools
that can be utilized in the coaching process. Assessments often provide a 'common language' between
Coach and Coachee. They may also be helpful in bonding and/or moving beyond an impasse in com-
munications within the relationship. HRCI Credit Pending

Advanced Coaching Skills

October 24-25, 2013
Coaching is an art. It is developed over time. The essential principles and practices are useful for a
wide variety of settings. Continued growth in advanced Coaching skills is necessary. For those in the
business or non-profit world, we are called on to lead and work with a large cast of participants from
wide and diverse backgrounds. This session will provide application for utilizing coaching skills beyond
the expected. Whether personal relationships or in volunteer leadership participation, how do you
know what is best? Through adult learning techniques participants will receive coaching suggestions to
apply to their own setting. HRCI Credit Pending
