Check Your Surroundings

Check the circumstances before attempting to climb a ladder. Make sure the work environment
is secure, including the location of the ladders, whether on the floor or the rooftop. Look for
anything that could endanger the ladder's sturdiness, such as wet and slippery locations on
cement or deck, exploitable weaknesses on the floor or lawn, patches of loose gravel, or any
form of wire or debris. The trick is to keep the ladder from sinking, shifting, or sliding. After
you've fastened the ladder, take the test step to ensure it can withstand the weight.
