How to Determine Superheat
41. Determine suction pressure clese to the
compressor.
2. Use the Prossure Temperature Ghartto
alormine saturation temperature af observed
Suction pressure. (Example: 140 psig = 49°F)
‘3. Measure the suction ne temperature a the
approumate locaton of pressure reading,
(Gxampee 63°F)
4, Subtract he saturation temperature (step 2)
from the suction ine temperature (stop 3). The
‘ference isthe amount of superneat
How to Determine Sub-Cooling
1. Determine liquid pressure close to the condenser
col ott.
2. Use the Prossure Temperature Chart to
Gatermine saturation lamperature at observed
liquid pressure. (Example: 432 psig = 122" F)
3. Measure the lui ne temperature at the
approximate location ofthe pressure reading
(Example: 10°F)
4. Subtract the laud line temperature (step 3) rom
the saturation temperature (stp 2). The
ference isthe amount of sub-cooting,
(Example: 6" F- 40" F = 14" of eupemect)
