The simple past tense is used to describe a completed activity that happened in the past. In other
words, it started in the past and ended in the past.

Reminder:

• Verbs used are either regular or irregular verbs.  Be verbs, is and are, when used in the past
To form the regular verb, add either d, or ed to tense become was and were. Was is used
the verb. when the subject is singular. On the other hand,
were is used when the subject is two or more.

 The helping verbs, do and does, when used in


the past tense become did.

 To form the irregular verb; make some changes


in the spelling particularly the vowel
