Organic and conventional farming share certain similarities, but the
discrepancy between them is apparent. Firstly, the organic approach aims to
produce a portion of safe and healthy food for consumption in an environmental- friendly way. In contrast, conventional agriculture targets maximizing the potential yield of the crops. Those goals lead to different impacts on the environment. While organic farming has a smaller carbon footprint, builds soil health, and replenishes natural eco for clean water and air, natural system of production degrade the environment by polluting soil and water and releasing more greenhouse emissions. The farming method is another striking difference between the two kinds of cultivation. Organic farmers mainly employ farm- focused techniques, namely crop rotation, companion planting, hand weeding, or animal grazing; thus, the crops can survive without the interference of chemical additives. Conventional farming, on the contrary, relies heavily on chemicals, pesticides, or herbicides to promote growth. The last point differentiate modern farming from traditional farming is the cost. More labors and natural assistance contribute to the higher price of the chemical-free method in comparison with the traditional one. To sum up, for the difference between organic and non- organic agriculture in terms of strategies, environmental effects, and market price, consumers should consider which is more reliable.
