Last 1898, the first image was burned during the Filipino-American War together with the
important documents in the parish and there were no records retrieved on how the original
icon looks. A new image was created last 1902 with the help of the members of Hermanos
de Mesa del Santissimo Rosario that is presently venerated in the church.
AZUCENA on the left hand (facing the image) of the Virgin Mary = symbolizes a whip to
reprimand individuals who forgets their relationship to other people. Later on, it is believed
that the azucena of the Virgin Mary will save the children from sickness.
ROSES on the left hand (facing the image) of the Virgin Mary = the offering for those who
make good deeds.
CROSS on the right hand (facing the image) of the Infant Jesus = represents Himself as the
Savior to the world from different sins.
DOVE on the left hand (facing the image) of the Infant Jesus = symbolizes Himself as the
Prince of Peace of the whole world.
HALO WITH TWELVE STARS = indicates the holiness of the sacred image and the number of
stars is in allusion to the number of the Apostles.
THE CROWN OF VIRGIN MARY = embodies her as the Queen of Heaven and Earth.
