Answer the following questions based on the poem "The Nymph's Reply to the Shepherd."
1. What do you think of the nymph's reply to the shepherd? Explain your answer briefly.
-The Nymph’s reply To The Shepherd” is a poem that made to reply at the other poem which is
“The Passionate Shepherd To His Love” and made it a bit humorous because the passionate
shepherd is all fantasies.
2. Was the shepherd's proposal of love accepted? Give some details from the text to prove your
answer.
-No because on the poem “The Nymph’s Reply To The Shepherd” is all about making fun of the
other poem and rejecting his offer because it was all just a fantasy.
3. Was the shepherd directly rejected? Explain your answer and cite evidence from the text to
support it.
-No, because at the first stanza of Nymph’s Reply is already telling that if everyone in the
world were young and in love then maybe they could live together.
4. Read aloud the first and the last stanzas of the poem. Are there any words that might give the
shepherd some hope? What are these words? How does the use of these words help shepherd
comprehend the nymph's acceptance or rejection of his offer of love?
-No because the poem already telling him that she can’t accept his offer

The chart below contains details from the poem "The Passionate Shepherd to His Loves
Complete the chart by writing down the corresponding response of the nymph to the shepherd
offer of love.
1. She says that if they did exist then she might be moved to “live with thee, and be thy
love“.
2. She says that rather than the world being “young“ and beautiful it is filled with the
ravages of time. The flocks are driven from “field to fold“ and the “rivers rage“ while the
“rocks grow cold“.
3. The flowers die, they wanton fields lose their crops and winter comes upon everything
that was once prosperous.
4. everything the shepherd has gathered including “downs, “shoes, “and “beds of roses“ are
all going to break in winter. The simple pleasures won’t last through the seasons.
5. she tells the shepherd that his possessions are not going to convince her to love him. They
mean nothing to her and cannot move her.
6. that if youth could last and love was able to persevere throughout all the seasons. Plus, if
joy did not have an expiration date then these “delights my mind might move“. But, this
is not the case. She will not be moved to be the shepherd’s love.

counterparts. Then think of a popular song and see if you can change some of its lyrics to
describe an issue or a situation
in your community or the society at large. Record it and create a simple music video.
