Option For 2nd Language in Std IX (2022-23) for
Students studying in Std. VIII (2021-22)
Dear Parents
You must be aware of the fact that as per the existing education policy, students are
expected to study two languages along with other subjects in Std. IX and Std. X.
Whereas, English is a compulsory as 1st Language, students can choose either Hindi or
Odia as the 2nd Language.
Only those students, who studied Sanskrit up to Std. VIII, will be allowed to continue to
opt for Sanskrit as 2nd Language in Std. IX and Std. X.
Kindly keep in mind the mark scoring factor as well as the Regional Language (Odia)
factor while exercising your choice. I'm sure you are aware that it is mandatory to pass an
examination in Odia as one of the subjects in Secondary Level while seeking employment
within Odisha.
Parents are requested to print and submit the duly filled-in Confirmation Slip of
your choice along with the PA-III Answer Sheets tomorrow i.e. on 18th February
2022 by 12:30 pm to Gosaninugaon School Campus for the timely arrangements (e.g.
Allotment of section and setting Time table etc. Choice of 2nd Language, once exercised
cannot be changed and also will have to be continued till Std. X.
However when they opt for Hindi or Sanskrit, students can still study Odia as
6th Additional Subject in Std. IX and X. But in such case, students are expected to depend
upon self study. (They can collect study materials from their friends.)
