Exam Details
The National Eligibility Test (NET), also known as UGC NET or NTA UGC-NET, is a test to
determine eligibility for college and university level lectureship and for the award of Junior
Research Fellowship (JRF) for Indian nationals. It aims to ensure minimum standards for
the entrants in teaching professions and research. On behalf of the University Grants
Commision (UGC), the National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the test twice a year for
determining the eligibility for Assistant Professor only or Junior Research Fellowship and
Eligibility for Assistant Professor both in Indian universities and colleges.
This will be computer-based test and will be conducted through online mode only.

• About UGC-NET Fellowship

The main objective of UGC-NET JRF Fellowship is to provide opportunities to deserving


candidates to undertake advanced studies and research, leading to M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree
in various listed streams.
#Note - The JRF can be awarded to only those who have opted it while filling NTA UGC-NET
Online Application Forms.
Tenure of fellowship - Initially for 2 years.
The duration can be extended further for a period of three years if the research work done
by any candidate is found satisfactory by the concerned department of the
University/College.

Most Interesting Part of Fellowship

UGC-NET JRF Scholarship Amount – INR 31,000 (for initial 2 years) and INR 35,000 (for
remaining tenure).

Contingency for Humanities and Social Sciences - INR 10,000/- per annum for initial two
years and INR 20,500/- per annum for remaining three years.
Contingency for Science - INR 12,000/- per annum for initial two years and INR 25,000/- per
annum for remaining three years.
Escorts/Reader Assistance – INR 2,000/- per month in case of physically and visually
challenged candidates.
HRA – As per University/Institute rules.

NTA UGC-NET EXAM PATTERN HIGHLIGHTS

NTA UGC-NET Paper will have 150 Questions, carrying Total


300 Marks. Exam is divided into 2 Papers – Paper 1 (General
Paper on Teaching and Research Aptitude) & Paper 2 (Main
Subject). To qualify the exam, it is Mandatory to Secure
Minimum Aggregate Marks (General-40%, OBC/SC/ST/PWD-
35%) in both the Papers. There is No Negative Marking and
Exam will be in Online mode only for 3 Hours without any
Break.
