DAILY ACTIVITY PLAN

Date: Monday July 7, 2022. Theme: Phonemics Awareness

Sub-Theme: What is the Alphabet? Age Group: 4 years old

Circle Time (Whole Group) Topic/Activity Title: Discussion of the Alphabet

Duration: 30-60 minutes

Objectives: By the end of the activity, students should be able to:

1. observe, describe make the sound of each letter of the alphabet

2. sing song about the alphabet,
3. name the 26 different letters of the alphabet,
4. draw each letter of the alphabet.
Skills: speaking, observing, singing, creating

Materials & Resources: song, cards with pictures of each letter of the alphabet, crayons, paper,
chart of the alphabet.

Introductory Activity: Students and teacher will sing the “ABC Song?”. By Songs For Littles.
Students will be asked to Draw and colour the first letter of their name.

Developmental steps:

Step 1: Students and teacher will engage in discussion based on the song. Students will be asked
their favourite type of letter.

Step 2: Students will be able to look on cards showcasing the letters of the alphabet.

Step 3: Students will take turns reaching into a bag for a card which contains the 26 letters, each
card that pulls from the bag the student will be asked to show it to the class and read aloud.

Step 4: Teacher and students will take turns counting each letter of the alphabet.
Assessment: Students will be asked to make the sound of different letters.

Example: What sound does the letter A makes?
