Transformer Oil Sampling
Transformer Oil Sampling
Transformer Oil Sampling
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during oil samples collection at site:
Sampling Procedure:
Clean the sampling point down with a wire brush or lint free wipe.
Open the drain valve of the transformer.
Use proper fittings on the drain valve having filling/Tygon tube.
Approximately 01‐02 litre of oil is allowed to drain to waste.
Oil should be drain according to local Safety Procedures.
The sample bottle should be flushed with the oil a few times before the sample is collected.
Place the end of tubing at bottom of the bottle and allow the bottle to fill slowly in a quiet manner.
Fill the bottle allowing some overflow then slowly withdraw the tubing with the oil still flowing.
Close the valve and disconnect the tubing..
Screw the bottle cap securely in position to avoid any leakage or air inside the bottle.
Clean the outer sides of bottle with a cloth.
Fill in a sample label with asset information and attach to the bottle.
Each sample bottle labelling should be done before taking other sample so that samples do not mix
with each other’s. This information is very important during result evaluation and interpretation.
The required information and ID for each sample bottle
Samples Packing:
Samples should be properly packed before putting them in crates/box to avoid any damage during
shipping, separator/insulator (paper or foam) filled in between of each bottle. This procedure will avoid the
bottle collide each other during transportation
Above instruction may vary depending on specific materials/situations. Always ask for MSDS (Material
