Dear Afnan

In a year where it has become normal to expect the unexpected, we were delighted to see the
return of Grand Slam tennis in a truly unique fashion through both the US Open and Roland-
Garros. With this in mind, we are pleased to now be in a position to provide an update on The
Championships 2021. We are actively engaged in planning for next year’s Championships and
are considering multiple operational scenarios at this point in time, given that there are still many
months until the Wimbledon Fortnight.

These scenarios fall into three broad categories: a full capacity Championships, a reduced
capacity Championships, and a ‘behind closed doors’ Championships, all of which are
dependent on the status of government and public health guidelines. Our overriding priority will
continue to be the health and safety of all of our stakeholders, in particular our guests, our staff,
and our competitors. We are working closely with the relevant government and public health
authorities, alongside the rest of the sports industry, to understand the varying challenges and
opportunities presented by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Further information on our planning for The Championships 2021 and scenarios can be found on
our website.

We will be in touch with you again towards the end of the year, and we look forward to sharing
the build up to Wimbledon 2021 with you as our plans develop.

We hope you and your families remain safe and well at this time.

Kind regards,

The All England Lawn Tennis Club

We are proud to continue to support the response to the coronavirus pandemic, and are
delighted to announce that our Wingfield Kitchen’s provision of 200 hot meals a day to those in
need in the local community will now continue until Christmas.

So far over £750,000 of the Wimbledon Foundation Coronavirus Fund has been donated to local
and national charities and community organisations. Awards under this Fund have focused on
addressing immediate needs of those most severely affected by the pandemic, supporting
children and young people, providing mental health support, especially for those on the front line
of the pandemic response, and caring for people who are homeless.

We have also taken the opportunity to progress our thinking for a new Master Plan for the
AELTC Grounds, to include the Wimbledon Park Golf Course, which returns to the AELTC in
stages from January 2022. Our two priorities for the Master Plan are to maintain Wimbledon’s
position as the pinnacle of the sport through a series of enhancements to The Championships,
and to generate a positive impact for our communities, in particular our local community. Within
these ambitions is our commitment to be a good steward of the land, and our desire to pay
tribute to its heritage as a Capability Brown landscape.

By way of example, having surveyed the many

wonderful trees and discovered several
historic veteran oaks, we have been
undertaking a harvest of the acorns of these
historic veterans in order to preserve their
DNA, from which we hope to grow several
trees that in time, can be replanted in the
park.
