Log about Clarke's The Songs of Distant Earth.

This log discusses Clarke's The Songs of Distant Earth, that shows Thalassa, a colony
derived from Earth, which has its quiet routine shaken by the arrival of a spaceship,
bringing Earthmen. The story is told from the interleaved perspective of the presented
characters, such as Lora, a native who is completely taken by the emotions caused by
the unknown newcomer Leon.

In my view, the descriptions, both of a new culture that is similar in some aspects but
that also differs in many others, as well as the construction of the narrated
environments, in addition to the presentation of the elements of science, are the strong
points of the story. Furthermore, the presence of the characters' internal conflicts in
relation to their own feelings and thoughts are sure established in a good narrative.
