Introduction to Activity Mapping
Mapping is technique used to record and represent information graphically. It’s
usually conducted at the Inventory-making and Analysis stage. Date from the site is
gathered and documented for further investigation.

Activity mapping studies, records and analyses the various activities that happen
in a certain area during specific time intervals. The various advantages through
activity mapping are :

1. Helps identify the concentration of specific user groups in certain places

2. Helps identify areas that require crowd control or effective traffic management.
3. Gives an idea about the level of development or economic standing of a place.
4. Gives an idea about the necessary structures and facilities that need to be
added on for areas where activities are high.
5. Helps create solutions for spreading the activities to increase accessibility
instead of concentrating them in certain areas.
6. Helps identify places that have potential for further development in the future.
