GMA News Online

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) is confident it could meet its target of printing 30.1 million
national identification cards by the end of the year, the Office of the Press Secretary (OPS) said.

As of August 23, the PSA has transferred some 17.6 million physical national IDs to the Philippine Postal
Corporation (PhilPost) for delivery to the residences of the applicants, the OPS said in a news release.

National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Secretary Arsenio Balisacan said the PSA is
making considerable progress to hit the end-year target of 30.1 million physical national IDs.

He said that in the last few days, the daily average of physical cards produced at the printing facilities of
the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas was 103,000 per day.

"Note that the target number of IDs issued by the end of the year is 50 million, of which 30.1 million are
physical IDs, and the balance of 19.9 million is digital/printable IDs," Balisacan said.

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. earlier said national IDs could help ensure the speedy
distribution of assistance to poor and vulnerable sectors. —Anna Felicia Bajo/KBK, GMA News
