1. Course Description:
¡Bienvenidos! In this class you will practice learning the Spanish language. You will learn the
basic communication skills in the Spanish language: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. We
will have a variety of activities to help you with your foreign language study. We will also
explore the Hispanic heritage and culture throughout the course.
2. Course Objective
We follow the Alabama Course of Study for Foreign Languages.
Content:
Vocabulary
Beginning Grammar
Verb Conjugation
Sentence Structure
Hispanic Cultural Activities
3. Classroom Expectations
It is expected that students follow the Huntsville City Schools’ Behavior Learning Guide for
classroom behavior.
4. Classroom Supplies
Students should have:
Folder or three ring binder
Pens or pencils
Loose leaf paper
Laptop with textbook
Flash cards/note cards
5. Grades
Huntsville City Schools Grading Distribution:
Daily practice of the Spanish language is a requirement. We will have daily assignments as well
as homework assignments. Follow directions if your homework is assigned on paper or online.
You will have written, listening, and speaking quizzes and tests. Major tests will be announced
ahead of time. Please make sure you check to see what was missed if you are absent.
6. Classroom Agreement
Learning a foreign language may be a challenging experience. Please make sure that you try your
best everyday so that you can be successful in this course. I will do my best to explain everything
as clearly as possible and to support you in any way I can. Make sure that you pay attention,
listen carefully, participate, stay positive, and study!
1. Please email me saying that you understand the policies required in our course.
2. Please have your parent email me explaining that he/she has read our course requirements
and also provide a current phone number.
3. Both emails are required in order to earn your first grade in class.
Students, don’t forget to use a professional email address and professional wording when
emailing a teacher.
Parents, I look forward to having your babies in my class and please feel free to email/call me
anytime.
