suggestion so that the reader has a better understanding of the problem.
3. State a solution to the problem; this is where you give specifics about your
suggestion.
4. Continue with any costs that will be involved.
5. Include the Timeline-chart
6. Conclude by restating the problem and proposed solution.
A Sample Informal Proposal
Below you will find a sample proposal. After each section, this sample provides a
commentary to explain how what has been written works as part of a proposal.
Title : The use of a teacher made Instructional Materials to encourage
classrooms teachers address the learning needs of pupils in the new life
School
Purpose
This project aims to propose a solution to a recurring problem that is
observed in the classroom. Although good teachers always remain
committed to their profession and try to solve classroom issues, there is still
a need to collaborate with other schools to gain school to school partnership
The problem in this school, classrooms are very old and is not attractive to
the learners anymore. Pupils are bored and teachers continually become
frustrated because of limited materials to model effective learning.
If funds are available, teachers can have new IMs for each classroom so
that the pupils will have fun learning with IMs that are new and localized
and will therefore be able to learn and connect understanding teachers can
teach without frustration because their ideas are satisfied by their IMs.
Commentary On the Purpose: Because the reader is not familiar with
your classroom issues because your reader is not using the classrooms in
the school every day, your may not know how bad is your issues. Thus, it
is suggested that the problem is stated clearly at the beginning in the
purpose section of the proposal
Background information
There are 217 pupils enrolled in -------------School. These pupils
------------------------------classrooms each day. None of these classrooms
has ------------------- that ----------------well; it takes ------------------- to develop
IMs.
Commentary :This means that if all of the pupils ……….(state the cause
and effect of the problem at hand) ano ang oras na nawala na dapat sana
sa lessons napunta? . Thirty minutes of time spent __________ takes
away a great deal from instructional time.
However, ( state the good things ) at saan lang talaga iyong problem nag
persist in a day? ) This problem arises often at the beginning of a test or a
new lesson?
Because of the length of time it takes to prepare the IMs to present, pupils
lost interest and focus hence the teacher have continuous interruptions in
their lessons throughout the day. Almost everything done in a classroom
requires a show of example , especially as pupils get older, and it is difficult
to get anything done without this basic tool.
The current method tools etc. etc.. __________( tool or whatever system
or methods ) have been in the classrooms for a long time, and that is over
10 years. They are obsolete and rotten. Provide what is current
scenario in the classroom.
Commentary on the description of the problem: In this section, the
proposal gives more details and background information about the kinds of
problems caused by not having effective IMs . the teacher hopes that the
reader will realize the degree to which the poor IMs have frustrate
teachers and deprive knowledge from student learning.
Solution to the Problem
It is hoped that we purchase new materials for each classroom. Models
that will attract change to learning effectively, and take only a few seconds
to show to the learners
-------------------- designed specifically for schools and the high volume of
use the -------------------------- get in classrooms.
I propose ------------------------ strategy These
---------------------------------------------------------------------------- these for all their
classrooms four years ago, and their principal has told me how well they
still work.
Commentary on the solution: The goal of this section is to convince the
reader that acting on the proposed solution will reap immediate benefits in
the classroom. The proposal is specific in the solution; it does not suggest
purchasing just any IMS, but specific ones that have been researched. It
also includes the recommendation of a friend who is a principal at another
school to show that other people say this solution works well for them.
Costs
How much will it cost to fund your proposal
Commentary on costs: In this section, the proposal shows exactly how
much the purchase will cost. ---------------------------------- The writer also
spells out any additional financial benefits the school will receive by making
this purchase.
Conclusion
In conclusion, I think --------------------------- for each classroom would be of
tremendous benefit to ------------ School. It would put an end to the constant
frustration of pupils never being able to find fun and joy in learning but
most importantly, teachers can give quality inputs______________ not
losing instructional period because of the length of time it takes to use our
obsolete , hard to display materials.
Commentary on Conclusion: The conclusion restates the problem and
the proposed solution, and ends on a positive note encouraging the reader
to act on the proposal.
As you can see, writing a proposal does not have to be an overwhelming
task. With a bit of thought and research, you will be able to write an
effective proposal that has a good chance of being approved.
