was published in La Solidaridad, begins by examining the different causes of the
Filipino people's hardships. Rizal gave a clear vision of how our country will end
up centuries later, stating that it may be one of the three situations: (1) the
Philippines will remain a Spanish colony while maintaining excellent relations
with its oppressors; (2) the Philippines will use violence to break our motherland's
connections with its captors; and (3) we will be colonized by another country.

country?
Today's Filipino youth, in my opinion, can show their patriotism to our
country by simply choosing the right people to lead our country. They must be
honest, patriotic, knowledgeable about government policies, and have a good
background. We need people who want to make our country a better place. We
need people who are versatile and can quickly adjust to different situations in
these changing times. They should keep an open mind about future ideas and
take the initiative to come up with better ways to carry out plans that have
previously failed. This is how we can show our patriotism to our country-- by
simply taking care of it in any way we can.
